About the Opportunity: A CNC Programmer translates blueprints and drawings into code to create finished products and tooling, which involves programming various CNC machines and fine-tuning their parameters to ensure parts and tooling meet exact specifications. Key responsibilities include analyzing and creating technical drawings for toolroom and production needs, developing and testing programs, and making necessary adjustments to machine settings for optimal accuracy. This role will also help to support production at times to aid in meeting delivery goals. Location: Manchester, CT - Building 4 Responsibilities:Under supervision: Reviews current fixturing and provides support for new fixture design/revisions as requiredRecommends new cutting tools to improve existing programs and develop new as requiredAnalyzes drawings, sketches, design data and specifications pertaining to parts to determine program paths/techniquesSelects the appropriate tools and machine speed/feed rates according to the machine shop processes, part specifications and machine capabilitiesProvides information for instruction sheets and cutter lists to guide set-up and operation of the machineOptimizes existing programsEnsures quality control standards are maintainedMaintains production schedules from the prototype run to production for NPIProvides shop floor support for the life of the programDocuments set-up information and programming writing/support for various CNC programs and 3, 4 and 5 axis milling operationsParticipates in process development and support, including creation of detailed router instructions, operation sheets, tool selection and fixture/tooling design of current and new processesInterfaces daily with manufacturing, engineering and quality functionsWorks closely with shop floor personnel to ensure viability of tooling and programs Incorporates lean manufacturing into shop environment and quick-change set-up, etc.Performs other related duties as assignedRequired Qualifications:Two (2) year Technical degreeTwo (2) years of related experience in CNC Programming and machine shop practices in the Aerospace industry, solid CAD modeling experience and fully fluent with Siemens NX for CNC ProgrammingMust be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time bases without sponsorship now or in the future. The Company cannot offer employment to visa holders who require employer sponsorship in the future or cannot work now on a full-time basis.Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations.Preferred Qualifications: Excellent mathematical, measurement, and technical skillsSelf-directed work ethic & time management skills to assure projects are completed on timeStrong knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance (GD&T)Ability to interpret complex blueprints and prepare machining processAnalytical skills to lead and solve problems to improve business processExcellent interpersonal, written and oral communications skillsMust be a team player and work well with others in a cross functional team environmentAbility to create macros for part probingProficient with simulation software (Vericut preferred)Thorough knowledge of G code programmingKnowledge and experience in the major aerospace alloy groups (titanium, stainless, nickel and aluminum)Thorough knowledge of quality control proceduresExperience in 5-axis milling and superalloy turningSkilled in CNC post processor development and refinementExperience programming on-machine touch and laser tool settersCapable of evaluating tool lengths and diameters to support regrind cutting toolsExpert computer software programming skillsSound project management and presentation skillsWorking Conditions:Requires mobility in a manufacturing plant environment while using Personal Protective Equipment.
