Under the guidance of the Business Operations Coordinator youll play an important role in interpreting and enforcing municipal and building codes all while serving as an approachable resource for residents businesses and developers.In this role youll act as the Town of Eries liaison educator inspector and problem-solver helping property owners and community members understand and meet local code requirements. Handles routine matters as needed and refers more complex items to the appropriate staff person.Performs tasks related to inspection and obtaining compliance with municipal code building code other rules and regulations related to building and planning. Refers cases requiring court summons to PD Code Enforcement and supplies the documentation of non-compliance to support the legal action.Investigates public complaints of Town building and planning code violations.Performs inspections/addresses compliance and/or violations of business licenses home occupations outdoor seating in right of way licenses mobile vendors chicken licenses fencing and site plans.Assists with review of various applications including temporary use permits and temporary sign permits as needed.Coordination with various departments and other enforcement staff to resolve land use licensing building code other zoning nonconformance issues and assisting other enforcement cases as needed.Completing necessary investigative reports documenting inspections investigations public contacts and actions taken.Prepares and issues courtesy notices and notices of violations to property owners businesses and others identifying the need to comply with Town code and ordinances. Coordinates with Code Inspector III the Police department and Town attorneys to issue citations and summonses to violators.Assists Code Inspector II/III with coordination efforts with Police department and Town attorneys in enforcement of violations relating to the towns adopted codes rules and regulations for planning and building issues that may include testifying in code related court cases. Writes and prepares technical reports and recommendations on code related issues where needed.Performs related work as required and assigned.Other Secondary Duties:May research and make recommendations for amendments to planning documents for the Town including but not limited to the Town Comprehensive Plan Unified Development Code International Building Code International Property Maintenance Code and Design Guidelines.Organizing and participating in community-oriented programs homeowners associations business groups and town task force groups. Some meetings and events may require occasional attendance during evenings and weekends.Aid and support to Code Enforcement Neighborhood Services Coordinator Stormwater Coordinator and others as assigned.Compiles and analyzes data as assigned.Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:Licenses and Certifications:Code Inspector IGraduation from High School or GED equivalentOne year experience related to inspection code enforcement nuisance abatement or a related field. A combination of education and experience may be considered.Graduation from High School or GED equivalent. Minimum of two years of experience as a municipal inspector is required.Code Inspector IIValid Drivers License and a satisfactory driving record.Must obtain Basic Colorado Association of Code Enforcement (CACEO) certification within one year of hire date if training is available.Must obtain International Property Maintenance Code certification within one year of hire date. Continuing education units/credits related to job field required as part of professional development.A combination of education and experience may be considered.Valid Drivers License and a satisfactory driving record.Must possess Basic Colorado Association of Code Enforcement (CACEO) certification.Must possess International Property Maintenance Code certification. Must possess International Zoning Code certification.Continuing education units/credits related to job field required as part of professional development.Desired QualificationsPrior experience interpreting and/or enforcing municipal codes in a government or public sector.Working knowledge of any building or zoning code regulations.Experience in serving notices citations or summonses.Demonstrated ability to educate and work collaboratively with residents contractors and key stakeholders.Job Expectations: Must be able to operate a motor vehicle safely to various Town facilities and at times other locations to perform the duties of the position.
