DescriptionThe Department of Surgery at the University of Virginia (UVA) invites applications for a faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in the Division of General Surgery, Section of Colorectal Surgery. The successful candidate will join a highly productive and growing clinical practice dedicated to the surgical management of diseases of the colon, rectum, and anus.  Track and tenure status will be determined by qualifications.Clinical responsibilities will include the care of patients with colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticular disease, and complex anorectal disorders, with an emphasis on minimally invasive surgery, robotic techniques, and endoscopy. The position also includes active participation in medical student, resident, and post-graduate teaching. Clinical and laboratory research opportunities are available. Tenure eligibility is dependent upon qualifications.The ideal candidate will demonstrate comprehensive ability to provide surgical evaluation and management of colorectal patients at UVA. Enthusiastic participation in student and resident training and education is essential. Applicants should have a strong interest in a career in academic medicine, as evidenced by prior experience in research or teaching.
