Commercial Lines Practice Leader
The Commercial Lines Practice Leader position is a critical leader for HUB Southwest and important to the company's ongoing success and efficiency in sales, customer service and marketing. As the CL Practice Leader, you're responsible for the strategic oversight of product offerings, implementation, new business development, account retention, and the successful mentoring and development of our CL staff. The position reports directly to the Regional President and is a member of the Southwest Executive Leadership Team. Direct reports include but are not limited to the following: CL Service Leaders in NM and AZ, Claims Leader, and Surety Service leader.
Job Responsibilities
Leadership accountabilities for new business and client service
Provide a vision and growth plan for how the company will remain profitable and how your team will expand its capabilities in small, mid-market, and specialty/complex commercial lines offerings
Create positive synergy with Employee Benefits, Personal Lines, and RPW practices to encourage cross-selling
Establish a positive culture dependent on maximizing the strengths of each employee; concentrate on ways to fully integrate all the P&C team members who work amongst sales, account service, claims, risk management, and compliance
Drive consistent and predictable long term, profitable client relationships and support prospective relationship development, including serving as an Executive Sponsor to our key accounts
Work closely with our CMO to manage insurance carrier access and support as needed, along with market relationship development to find new products and services for clients and prospects, and maintain knowledge of CL carriers product and service level differentiation
Ability to engage corporate resources to support departments including sales and marketing, information technology, accounting and finance, human resources, and facilities management
Work with regional executive team to identify possible agency acquisitions
Support the development and management of department budget and expenses per corporate guidelines
Influence and support annual operating plan and initiatives
Strategize with Sales Leaders and Operations Managers to retain business year over year; enhancing Value Proposition, Stewardship process and Account Management services
Work closely with our Sales Leader to develop internal resources/experts to assist all producers in closing business
Support the sales leadership and operations leaders on recruiting and hiring new producers and key Account Executives
Exercises expense control and maximize revenues and net operating income in compliance with corporate guidelines
Ensures continuous development of products and service offerings aligned with identified needs of customers in the market segments
Assist/Advise the development of sales and marketing strategies along with communications to optimize HUB's position in the marketplace
Champion the internal and external HUB "brand" and positioning in the market
Positively and proactively represent HUB in meetings, seminars, trade shows, networking events, and in community events/boards/committees
Qualifications
At least 15 years of commercial lines insurance experience; majority must be within an agency, brokerage or consulting firm
Demonstrated track record as a Managing Producer, Client Service/Account Executive or Team Leader in developing a consultative sales platform for sales and account management
Specialty lines experience a plus
Be a hands-on manager; enjoys mentoring and direct management of staff; also, desire to continue generating new business
Can institute effective employee development procedures which address training, processes and procedures, E&O avoidance, continuing education, recruiting, hiring and disciplinary actions
Understand ways to distinguish insurance brokerages through customer service, technology and special product offerings, association marketing, client communication strategies and alternative funding programs
Must have willingness to partner with other business lines to maximize bottom line to the region
Proven progressive sales track record in driving new business results
A consultative, positive and resourceful approach to dealing with prospect, clients and associates
Strong visibility within the local and national insurance communities
Highly developed organization and time management skills
Must be willing to travel given operations across the region
Excellent listening skills
Strong written and verbal communications
Strong degree of self motivation
Demonstrated ability to lead/motivate others
Is influential and persuasive with the ability to partner across HUB and work well with segment and other channel leaders
Required Experience: More than 15 years of relevant experience
Required Travel: Up to 50%
Required Education: Bachelor's degree (4-year degree)
