Building Commissioning EngineerLocation: Birmingham ALA leading energy consulting engineering firm is seeking a Commissioning Engineer to support commissioning and energy assessment projects across multiple sectors including government commercial education manufacturing healthcare and research. This role focuses on ensuring mechanical electrical plumbing and building automation systems operate efficiently and according to design intent.Primary ResponsibilitiesManage and execute retro-commissioning and new building commissioning projectsDevelop commissioning plans review designs and submittals and prepare reportsCreate and execute functional performance tests and detailed Methods of ProcedureCollaborate with contractors engineers and architects to confirm systems meet owner requirements and design intentReview contractor documentation and vendor submittalsDevelop and perform Pre-Functional Checklists and Functional Performance TestsTroubleshoot and investigate system issuesVerify equipment performance and ensure systems meet specificationsSchedule and coordinate commissioning activities with multiple stakeholdersObserve equipment startup and produce associated reportsConduct site inspections and maintain issues logsUse commissioning tools including flow hoods pressure instruments and temperature sensorsWrite final commissioning reportsDirectly interface with owners and clients regarding project expectationsIdentify and support implementation of energy conservation measures and calculate savingsAssist with installation energy and water plans (IEWP)Perform ASHRAE Level I II and III auditsSupport strategic infrastructure and energy planning initiativesRequired Degrees and CertificationsBachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited universityMust pass FE exam within one year of hireAbility to sit for PE exam within two yearsAbility to sit for CEM within one yearAbility to sit for NEBB CxCP within one yearRequirements25 years of experience in the building commissioning field and/or academic co-op commissioning experienceStrong understanding of commercial and industrial HVAC systems (AHUs VAVs chiller plants condenser water plants boiler plants)Knowledge of ASHRAE SMACNA and NFPA standardsUnderstanding of HVAC and plumbing/piping design and engineering calculationsFamiliarity with building automation systems and sequences of operationAbility to work independently and collaboratively within a teamAbility to travel approximately 25 percent overnight and 3050 percent overallPreferred Experience and SkillsCommissioning experience with mechanical HVACR electrical plumbing systems and building automation systemsExperience using cloud-based commissioning softwareFamiliarity with Siemens InsightExperience with AutoCAD and RevitFamiliarity with Carriers Hourly Analysis ProgramBasic programming knowledgeUnderstanding of construction documentsProficiency with Microsoft Office (Word Excel PowerPoint)$120000 - $130000 a year Key Skills Fashion Retail,Engineering,HVAC,Defense,ASP Employment Type : Full-Time Experience: years Vacancy: 1
