Job Description SummaryThe Nondestructive Evaluation (NDE) Advanced Lead Engineer will be responsible for developing computed tomography (CT) inspection solutions for new material systems and new product development in additive manufacturing turbine airfoils and composites. You will work with and sometimes lead cross-functional teams with innovative technologies to develop and validate new materials and components using nondestructive evaluation methods. As those designs mature for use in products you will have the opportunity to transition the inspection methods to a production environment.Job DescriptionRoles and ResponsibilitiesAbility to work with design materials and manufacturing engineers to establish inspection requirementsDefine develop and implement X-ray/CT inspection methods for aviation development and production hardware including hands-on operation of X-ray/CT systems.Ownership of specific projects with limited guidanceUnderstand and comply with aviation quality standards for production hardwareLead and participate in the technical reviews of proposed inspection methodsFormulate and implement plans to achieve technical and program requirements schedules and contract commitments develop action plans to anticipate and respond to problemsDemonstrated ability to monitor and communicate project status and associated risksAssure proper documentation of technical data or programs generated for the assigned projects in a consistent manner with engineering policies and proceduresMinimum Required QualificationsBachelors Degree accredited college or university in Materials Electrical or Aerospace Engineering (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in relevant X-ray/CT experience.)Minimum of 3 years of relevant X-ray/CT experience.Desired Characteristics and Experiences Familiarity with state-of-the-art X-ray/CT systems and Aviation applicationsKnowledge of the theory and application of digital radiography or CT for NDE applicationsAbility to work with global distributed teams to achieve resultsDemonstrated ability to lead NDE development effortsFamiliarity with Digital X-ray/CT Inspection standards and certificationsExperience with X-ray/CT equipment operation calibration and troubleshooting.Experience with developing and/or working on inspection technique development and solutions.Functional knowledge of VGStudio or Avizo CT data analysis softwareGE Aerospace offers comprehensive benefits and programs to support your health and along with programs like HealthAhead your physical emotional financial and social wellbeing.
