Connected Vehicle Researcher – Vehicular System and Applications at GM

Job DescriptionHybrid: This position is located in Warren MI & requires an employee to be onsite 3-4 times per week.Who You Are:As a member of the Connected Vehicle Experience Research Lab you will be working with the Connected Vehicle System group. You will be applying your expertise in connected and autonomous vehicles wireless communication infotainment robotics and data science for developing innovative approaches to enhance customer experience through wireless connectivity. As a researcher in this group you will implement your solutions in wireless communication and publish your research findings in peer-reviewed journals to extend the reach of General Motors development of next-generation technology. This will also include interfacing with universities research institutes and other advanced technology laboratories to build a network for amplifying your research.What You Do:Develop connected vehicle systems and applications for safety infotainment and roboticsDevelop and implement new vehicular applications and services in prototyping systemsDevelop and implement vehicular network protocols prototyping systems. Preferably a candidate should be able to implement research ideas in functioning wireless prototypes on GM research vehicles or robotic systemsCustomize operating systems and software architectures that facilitate and support vehicular communication applicationsEvaluate and analyze the developed protocols systems and application services either via extensive simulations or via empirical experimental measurementsParticipate in government-funded research work such as the USDOT collaboration projectsDocument research work through internal and external publicationsFacilitate technology transfer via active participation in cross-functional teamsWhat You Need:U.S. CitiznshipMasters degree in computer science or electrical engineeringResearch experience in at least one of the following areas:mobile systems and applications wireless communication wireless network protocols cyber-physical systems wireless sensor network intelligent transportation system data science or other related areasStrong theoretical experimental or software programming skillsWhat Would be Even Better:PhD degree in a related areaHands-on experience building empirical systems to develop connected vehicle systemsHands-on experience with cloud and edge computingHands-on experience with socket programmingExperience with data analysis or AI/Machine Learning for engineering applications.Demonstrates leadership in field of study extra-curricular activities or service organizations
