This position will be responsible for managing projects throughout their entire lifecycle-from conceptualization to commissioning-ensuring that all deliverables meet established timelines, budgets, and quality benchmarks. The role involves coordinating multidisciplinary teams, implementing advanced engineering solutions, and supporting improvements in plant capacity, safety, and regulatory compliance. Job DescriptionKey Responsibilities:Lead execution of large-scale capital investment projects across assigned platforms and regionsDevelop and implement project strategies aligned with cost, schedule, and quality targetsPrepare and manage project initiation documents including scope, cost, and risk assessmentsOversee design coordination and ensure compliance with internal and legal standardsDrive project procurement and vendor selection processesMonitor construction safety plans and conduct regular safety reviewsManage project reviews including technical quality and constructability assessmentsExecute commissioning plans and ensure successful project handover to operationsSupport audits and lead facility improvement initiatives for energy and complianceMentor engineering teams and foster professional development across project functionsEssential Requirements:Bachelor's degree in engineering or relevant disciplineMinimum 10 years of professional experience, including at least 5 years in Capital Portfolio and Major Project Management and at least 5 years within the pharmaceutical industry.Proven leadership in managing external engineering resources and leading cross-functional teamsStrong knowledge of project cost control, scheduling, and quality assuranceExcellent communication and stakeholder alignment skills across technical and business domainsProven success delivering safe, effective, and compliant projects in the pharmaceutical industryAdvanced understanding of HSE standards and GxP/QA complianceAbility to travel for the role. Approx. 10%Fluent in EnglishDesirable Requirements:Experience leading capital projects >$20MDiverse pharmaceutical experience needed. Specifically, Small Molecule DS (Drug Substance) / Small Molecule DP/FP (Drug Product/Finished Product) is highly preferred. Novartis Compensation and Benefit Summary: The salary for this position is expected to range between $132,300 and $245,700 per year. The final salary offered is determined based on factors like, but not limited to, relevant skills and experience, and upon joining Novartis will be reviewed periodically. Novartis may change the published salary range based on company and market factors. Your compensation will include a performance-based cash incentive and, depending on the level of the role, eligibility to be considered for annual equity awards.
