Construction Project Manager

AECOM is actively seeking motivated Construction Project Managers to work on PM/CM teams managing the delivery of Transportation Infrastructure projects in the New York Metro area, for various government agencies and authorities.

Construction Project Managers are responsible for the overall management of PMC and CM projects or for managing key components/disciplines of mega projects or of numerous smaller projects. The qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career with construction management experience in Transportation, specifically Transit and Rail construction in the New York Metro market with distinct prior Government Agency experience. This position will report to the NY Metro Construction group as part of the NY Metro Transportation business line.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provide oversight of the field construction inspectors during the project construction phase including; preparation of inspectors daily work schedules, ensuring site safety monitoring, technical oversight, quality of construction, and Client satisfaction
  • Accountable for the planning, coordination and inspection and construction management activities and assignments of all direct reporting staff to ensure efficient utilization of staffing
  • Balance work in the project office with the senior management team and also provide supervision of the field inspection teams working nights and weekends. Interface with contractors to ensure coordination of construction activities and to meet aggressive project schedules
  • Evaluate, resolve and provide solutions to contractors and construction inspectors for constructability issues encountered at construction sites
  • Experience in the evaluation and validation of contractors change order requests against contract documents, negotiating change orders costs and schedule impacts and make recommendations to the Construction Manager and Program Manager
  • Perform inspection and resident engineering activities on highway bridge related projects, construction site safety standards and operations requirements
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring timely completion of milestones and overall project delivery
  • Manage project budgets, including cost estimation, tracking, and reporting to senior management and clients
  • Coordinate with various stakeholders, including government agencies, utility companies, and local communities to ensure smooth project execution
  • Implement and oversee quality control processes to maintain high standards of construction and compliance with relevant codes and regulations
  • Conduct regular project status meetings and prepare comprehensive reports for internal and external stakeholders
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks to project success, developing contingency plans as necessary
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations throughout the project lifecycle
  • Mentor and develop junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing
  • Participate in business development activities, including proposal preparation and client presentations, to support company growth

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree plus 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Due to the projects associated with this position a US Citizenship is required
  • Transit and Transportation Experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent written communications and presentation abilities in internal project settings with, the senior management team, external project stakeholders including senior client management leadership
  • 6 plus years of experience in resident engineering, construction management, project management, engineering and related fields is preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, staff supervision, strong negotiation skills and conflict resolution abilities
  • Experience with NYSDOT, or NYCDOT projects. A P.E. License in New York is preferred.
  • Software proficiency in Procore, SharePoint, MS Project
  • Certifications: PE,CCM, NICET, PMP, DBIA
