Job DescriptionJob DescriptionWe are looking for a highly experienced Controller to oversee and enhance the financial operations of our organization in Columbia, South Carolina. In this role, you will manage accounting functions, ensure compliance with financial regulations, and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and maintain accurate reporting. This this is a hands-on position that offers the opportunity to collaborate with senior leadership and contribute to strategic financial planning.Responsibilities:• Handle monthly financial close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, inter-company transactions, and variance analyses.• Manage and refine accounting systems, policies, and procedures to ensure timely and accurate financial records.• Prepare and present detailed financial statements at both departmental and entity levels.• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions to maintain accuracy and completeness.• Establish, monitor, and enforce internal controls to protect company assets and ensure compliance with financial legislation.• Collaborate with external auditors, tax professionals, and fund administrators to facilitate audits, reviews, and tax filings.• Partner with senior leadership and department heads on budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.• Analyze departmental budgets to identify resource needs, cost-saving opportunities, and efficient allocation of funds.• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.• At least 10 years of progressive accounting experience, with 2+ years in private equity, real estate, or investment-focused environments preferred.• Proven expertise in implementing internal controls and budgeting practices to mitigate financial risks.• Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards and internal control frameworks.• Experience managing multi-entity accounting, consolidations, and fund accounting.• Proficient in Sage Intacct and other accounting software, with advanced Excel skills.• Familiarity with real estate investment structures and mortgage-related accounting is a plus.
