Staff Controller - Finance & Accounting
Location: Tempe, Arizona
Department: Finance / Accounting

Role Purpose:

We are seeking a Staff Controller to support the company's accounting and financial operations by assisting with financial reporting, budgeting, compliance, and internal controls. This role will work closely with the Finance Manager or Controller to ensure accurate financial information and help maintain efficient financial processes.

The Staff Controller will be hands-on in daily accounting functions, preparing reports, and assisting in budget monitoring, while also supporting audits and compliance requirements. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, eager to grow, and motivated to develop strong technical accounting and financial management skills. This role is part of a global team working toward common goals. We operate as one company, across all locations, with shared responsibility and clear accountability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with accounting functions, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and the general ledger.
  • Prepare and support the review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
  • Help implement and maintain internal controls to ensure compliance with accounting standards and safeguard company assets.
  • Support the budgeting and forecasting process by gathering data and preparing analyses.
  • Analyze financial data, identify variances, and provide preliminary insights to management.
  • Assist with external audits and tax filings by preparing documentation and schedules.
  • Monitor cash flow activities and support banking-related processes as directed.
  • Maintain accurate and organized accounting records, including ledgers, payroll, and tax-related documentation.
  • Stay current on accounting principles (such as US GAAP) and apply best practices in day-to-day responsibilities.
  • Provide financial updates and support to management through clear reporting and communication.

Education & Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).
  • CPA or progress toward certification (preferred but not required).

Experience & Technical Skills:

  • 2-5 years of experience in accounting or finance (corporate environment preferred).
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles (US GAAP knowledge preferred).
  • Proficiency with financial software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
