Job Details
We are seeking a highly experienced, hands-on Controller to lead the accounting and financial reporting functions for a high-volume food and beverage organization serving the hospitality industry. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and GAAP-compliant financial reporting while providing operational financial leadership across manufacturing, inventory, and logistics functions.
The ideal candidate is a CPA with a CMA and MBA, bringing deep expertise in inventory-intensive environments, strong operational acumen, and a proven ability to lead from the front in fast-paced, complex operations.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Compliance
Lead the preparation and oversight of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
Ensure timely and accurate close processes in a high-transaction, high-volume environment.
Maintain and enforce strong internal controls in compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
Oversee general ledger integrity, account reconciliations, and financial statement analysis.
Coordinate annual audits and manage relationships with external auditors and tax advisors.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax requirements.
Operational & Cost Accounting
Direct all cost accounting activities within a manufacturing and distribution environment.
Oversee inventory accounting, including standard costing, variance analysis, physical inventory controls, and cycle counts.
Manage financial processes related to logistics, warehousing, and supply chain operations.
Analyze production costs, labor efficiencies, waste, and yield to drive margin improvement.
Develop and monitor KPIs related to inventory turnover, shrinkage, freight, and production performance.
Leadership & Team Management
Provide hands-on leadership to the accounting team, including hiring, mentoring, and performance management.
Drive process improvements and automation initiatives to support scalability.
Partner cross-functionally with operations, procurement, supply chain, and executive leadership.
Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
Strategic & Financial Planning
Lead budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management processes.
Provide financial modeling and decision-support analysis to executive leadership.
Support growth initiatives, capital expenditures, and operational investments.
Evaluate systems and processes to ensure alignment with long-term strategic objectives.
Required Qualifications
Active CPA license (required).
CMA designation (required).
MBA in Finance, Accounting, or related field (required).
10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including senior leadership experience.
Extensive experience in a manufacturing, inventory, logistics, or food production environment.
Deep expertise in GAAP financial reporting.
Proven experience managing high-volume transactional environments.
Strong ERP systems experience (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar).
Demonstrated ability to lead teams in fast-paced, operationally complex environments.
Preferred Experience
Experience in food & beverage manufacturing or distribution serving hospitality clients (hotels, restaurants, resorts, institutional dining).
Experience scaling accounting operations in a growth-focused organization.
Background in multi-location or multi-entity operations.
