About ZeniAbout the RoleZeni is looking for a Controller to be a Zen master with regards to finance applications and financial reporting. The Controller will lead with technology and drive automation of daily financial updates using Zenis finance platform and accounting support teams. The Controller will work closely with emerging and all-star founders and teams driving customer success and enabling Zenis customers to scale.ResponsibilitiesWork directly with founders and start-up teams to understand their business and financial modelManage a customer portfolio of SaaS and technology-based start-ups taking ownership of customer revenue growth and customer profitabilityManage a team of remote resources driving the team to own daily and monthly close processes reconciliations and classificationsUtilize Zenis platform and technology to drive automation of customer processes and integration of financial applicationsGuide customers in the collection and use of data to optimize Zenis AI reporting platform empowering budget vs. actual analysis forecasts and KPI reportingEducate customers and founders on U.S. GAAP accounting financial statements and financial metrics for technology companiesDrive customer success anticipating customer needs and responding to customer requests as the finance function for the customerTrain and mentor accounting managers senior accountants and staff to complete daily monthly and annual accounting and reporting processesEnable Zeni sales growth by assisting customers in scaling their business and supporting additional Zeni servicesQualifications7-10 years of experience in an accounting accounting outsource provider or CPA firmStrong experience managing teams of 5 accounting professionals and drive ownership of deliverables by support teams (Bonus: managing offshore remote employees)Managing a diverse customer portfolio of SaaS-based e-commerce inventory and other tech start-upsUndergraduate or Masters degree in Accounting or FinanceCPA or MBA Accounting or Finance concentrationTech savvy with experience in Quickbooks Netsuite Xero Ramp Gusto Expensify and other leading cloud-based finance applications for start-upsStrong knowledge and application of GAAP ASC 606 revenue recognition consolidations and equity compensation and other areas of accounting for SaaS companiesExperience in coaching founders at various stages of development recommending solutions and guiding the timing of key deliverables as companies growStrong oral and written communication skills and comfortable working with teams in client-facing roleExperience using Google Suite (Docs Sheets and Slides) and advanced Excel skillsCompensation: Base salary of $130000 - $150000. Your base pay is one part of your total compensation addition to base salary Zeni offers a generous bonus program along with an equity package. Zeni uses a location-based compensation model to ensure fairness and consistency across our teams. The base salary range below reflects the expected pay for this role. Actual compensation will depend on geographic region as well as your job-related experience and skills. Because we update our ranges based on new market data posted figures may change.
