Job DescriptionJob DescriptionSalary: $16-$22 an hour DOESummary:The Chef is responsible for healthy meal planning, food service, preparation, and clean up in our residential treatment centers. The Chef maintains safety and sanitation and communication with the Program Director of the treatment centers. The Chef also ensures all safety and health standards for the kitchen and ensures that all Joint Commission standards are upheld. The Chef must be knowledgeable in meeting varied dietary needs and be sensitive to the emotional well-being of clients in residence.This is a full-time position - 40 hrs per week; 8 hrs per day.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Budgeting & Shopping for all Kitchen related needs; including stocking pantries and client refrigerators.Create and maintain menu recordsClean food preparation areas, cooking surfaces and utensils.Prepare and cook meals that are nutritional and meet the needs of all clients.Maintain sanitation, health, and safety standards in work areas.Operate cooking equipment such as grills, griddles, ovens.Pre-cook items when needed; this includes leaving prepared meals to cover weekends.Prepare and serve beverages such as coffee and TeaPrepare specialty foods following specific methods that usually require short preparation timeRead or receive verbal instructions as to food required by patron and prepare and cook food according to instructions.Verify that prepared food meets requirements for quality and quantityWash, cut and prepare foods designated for cooking.Clean, stock, and restock workstationsLabel and Date all food/beveragesRequirements:Knowledge of Addiction Recovery preferred.High School Diploma or equivalent.Food Handler's Certification prior to startValid California driver's license - position requires driving.Current and Valid CPR and First Aid Certification on file (must be renewed yearly).Ability to pass a 7 year Criminal Background checkOften required to stand and sit; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawlOccasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and in some instances up to 40 poundsPrevious experience with Substance Abuse or other Residential Treatment highly preferred. Experience preparing meals in a residential setting preferred.Shift:Morning shiftWeekly day range:Monday to FridayWork setting:Rehabilitation centerAbility to commute to 35400 Via Famero Drive, Acton, Ca 93510Experience:Culinary experience: 1 year (Preferred)Cooking: 1 year (Preferred)License/Certification:Food Handler Certification
