Job DescriptionJob Description**EVERY OTHER WEEKEND OFF** Evening Grill Cook- Sunday-Thursday Davenport University Dining / Creative Dining ServicesAs a cook, works with the dining services team to ensure that high quality, properly seasoned, nutritious food is being provided throughout the operation, in a fiscally responsible and safe manner. Works cooperatively as a valued member of the dining services team, assisting with any aspect of the dining services program necessary.Core Responsibilities:Time food production such that all food is ready at the time of servicePrepare food items according to established recipes and menus in a manner in which preserves food freshness, quality and appealUtilize batch cooking techniques to avoid over or under productionUtilize safe food handling techniques at all timesStore food items according to established standards of practice; utilize proper labeling and datingHold prepared food items at appropriate temperatures (below 40°ree; if cold, above 135°ree; if hot)Maintain production records (food usage, overages, shortages, customer counts, etc.)Maintain established logs (food temperatures, cooling temperatures, cooler & freezer temperatures, etc.)Maintain a clean and sanitized work areaFollow established work rules and regulations; ready for work in the kitchen, in uniform, at the scheduled timeIf work shift requires, properly open and/or close the kitchen – unlocking/locking doors & secured areas, and turning on/turning off of all equipment essential to the operationMaintain a safe, tidy and well-organized work environment at all times; clean up spills quickly, wear protective gear as needed (ie: slicer glove), and store wares safelyCommunicate needs and concerns regarding food production and kitchen operation to supervisor appropriately, and in a timely mannerMonitor kitchen equipment for proper functioning; report any discrepancies to supervisor immediatelySupport other kitchen employees in assuring that the essential functions of the kitchen are performed adequately and appropriatelyBe proactive in communication; monitor communication posting areas closelyAssist management personnel in ordering and inventory proceduresRemoval of refuse as neededPutting away/Pulling stock as neededThe Ideal Candidate Will Have:Minimum of 2 years cooking experienceHigh School diploma or equivalent preferred but not requiredServSafe CertificationThe Ideal Candidate Will Have: High school diploma or equivalent Have dependable transportation Flexible availability including days, nights and weekends Must pass a background check Benefits Include:Competitive pay and bonus opportunitiesMedical, dental, and vision insurance401(k) with a company matchPaid time offDiscounted tuitionComplimentary mealsAbout Creative Dining ServicesCreative Dining Services partners with college, universities, Fortune 100 companies, full-service senior living communities, conference centers and K-12 schools and camps to provide a different kind of hospitality and facility management services experience – one that’s fun, innovative, and focused on your community.
