Job DescriptionJob DescriptionDescription:Position Summary:The cook assists with preparing menus, inventory control, and maintains a clean or organized safe kitchen environment. This position is responsible for preparing the food in an appetizing and appealing manner.Essential Functions:Identify and report food and supplies needed for the next week’s menusAssist in the receiving, rotation, and storage of productsPrepare menus and cook food in accordance with nutritional guidelines, regulations, and residents’ individual prescribed diets and food preferencesAssist in fostering residents’ independence with eating by providing adaptive equipment when neededAssist in fostering residents’ independence with eating by providing adaptive equipment when neededPrepare food and coordinate food services for special community events when requestedNotify Dir. of Food and Beverage or any malfunctioning kitchen equipment or appliancesEnsure proper storage and handling of food in accordance with infection control standardsThe ability to work in a safe and alert mannerThe ability to take ownership for associate’s safety and the safety of the residentsMust disclose any medication that might impair associate’s ability to perform the job safely or competently.Non-Essential Functions:Leads by example exhibiting the CORE Values through servant leadershipEncourages teamwork and promotes company philosophyAttends required community meetings and participates Life Enrichment activities when ableCompletes all required courses in adherence with HRA UniversityIs prompt and able to perform the required duties of the position on a regular, predictable basisBecomes familiar and understands how to report a missing person using the Safe Return program or equivalentBecomes familiar and understands the steps for fire evacuationAll associates are responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for all community residentsRequirements:Qualifications/Skills/Educational Requirements:Must have a high school educationExperience in cooking for large groups a plusCertified in food-preparation training preferredKnowledge of state food-handling and kitchen regulationsKnowledge of OSHA Standards and fire and safety procedures
