Job DescriptionJob DescriptionMeriwether Godsey is looking for a Full-time Deli/Prep Cook responsible for helping to prepare fabulous meals at an independent, non-sectarian college preparatory day school for girls located in Summit, NJ. This position is responsible for the deli setup and maintenance.Full-time/9-monthPay range: $17-$19 per hourHours: Monday-Friday, 8am-4pmWhat the Prep Cook will do: Perform routine kitchen tasks and follow the prep list created to plan dutiesLabel and stock all ingredients on shelves for organization and easy accessPrepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat, and doing other meal prepSet up workstations and ingredients so that food can be prepared according to recipesUndertake basic cooking duties, such as reducing sauces and parboiling foodPrepare simple dishes, such as salads and entreesTake and record temperatures, following all required food handling and sanitation standards to ensure food safetyAssist with the organization and sanitation of coolers, freezers, and storerooms: all items covered, labeled, and datedKeep work areas organized, cleaning and sanitizing work areas and equipment Attend production meetings daily, offering input concerning leftover utilization, efficiency, product quality, etc.Perform all duties according to food safety and sanitation best practicesOther duties, as assigned prep cook (cutting/chopping, minor cooking, panning up food), receiving and storage of deliveries (proper rotation, temperature taking) and utility (dish room, mopping, sweeping, garbage)What the Prep Cook will need: High School diploma or equivalentServSafe® Certification, principles of food production techniques, and HACCP log experience preferredPrevious Deli experience in a fast-paced environmentAbility to communicate with the forward-facing clients in EnglishAbility to measure products and convert units of measureAwareness of commercial kitchen equipment and how to perform routine maintenance and cleaningWhat the Prep Cook will get: Competitive Pay, Uniforms, Meals, Training, and Mentorship Benefits such as Health, Vision, Dental, and more!
