Job DescriptionJob DescriptionDescription:Line CookDEPARTMENT: 30 Prepared FoodsREPORTS TO: Food Service ManagerPAY CLASSIFICATION: Hourly non-exemptLAST UPDATED: June 6, 202530 Prepared FoodsJob SummaryPrepares food items to be used in a full range of cooking methods as directed by the Chef or Food Service Manager.About Prairie Food Co-opPrairie Food Co-op is a community-owned and democratically operated grocery store dedicated to strengthening our economy and creating a marketplace for transparently labeled, local, organic and sustainable food.Essential Job DutiesChopping, slicing, and cutting of food items with accuracy and precision Prepares and cooks various food items Proper labeling, dating and storage of prepared food itemsMaintaining the organization and cleanliness of walk in, freezer, and dry storage areaPerforms cleaning tasks Wash dishes as needed/necessaryAdditional DutiesAssist in catering and special projects as assignedEssential SkillsGood customer service skills for both internal and external customersStrong attention to detailExcellent interpersonal skillsAbility to take direction and work independentlyAbility to multi-task and good organizational skillsAbility to work under a deadline and extra hours if neededUtilize a wide variety of kitchen tools and utensils, including chopping knivesRequirements:Essential Mental & Physical RequirementsAbility to read and follow recipes accuratelyWorks with guidance from Department ManagerPerforms a variety of tasks as dictated by department demandsStanding for long periods, bending, walking, reaching, and sittingAbility to climb up and down stepladders and stairs dailyAble to lift and carry up 50 lbs. as needed throughout the dayExperience and Educational RequirementsThere are no educational requirements One year of prep/line cook experience requiredServSafe certification preferredOther QualificationsAbility to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA & other federal, state & local standards - including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards Ability to maintain reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA & other federal, state and local standards Compliance with all personnel policiesImportant Disclaimer NoticeThe job duties, elements and responsibilities, skills, functions, experience, educational factors, requirements and conditions listed in this job description are representative only and not exhaustive of the tasks that the employee may be required to perform.
