Job DescriptionJob DescriptionAt PCS Mental Health, it's our mission to enable individual persons who have serious mental illness, co-occurring substance use disorder and/or a dual diagnoses of SMI and IDD live a life that is meaningful to her or him in the community on terms she/he defines.Title: Cook Supervisor: Program Director Brief Description of Program:PCS Mental Health, LLC will operate a Residential Treatment Facility for Adults (RTF-A) serving members from Lackawanna, Susquehanna, Luzerne, Wyoming, Carbon, Monroe and Pike Counties. In this locked, sixteen bed homelike setting, Members will continue in their recovery journey and will develop and improve the skills needed to disrupt the cycle of institutional living. The RTF-A will be staffed 24x7 to provide members the support, education and knowledge to live within the greater community. Each member will identify his/her own Blue-Sky, life-worth-living goal(s) and use these as inspiration in developing their unique Recovery/Treatment Plan. Summary of Job Duties:This position is responsible for ensuring the members at the RTF-A are provided with three well balanced, nutritionally based meals plus snacks each day. This position is also responsible to manage the kitchen from menu planning to cleaning to managing inventory of food as well as equipment. The cook shall also lead skills instruction for members, both in group and individual settings. Specific Responsibilities: Plan and create menus to encompass three well-balanced and nutritional meals plus snacks for members each day. The cook shall consult with LPN around nutritional content and balance of meals Menus must be created at least a week in advance and maintained on site for no less than seven years after completion.Offer substantial alternatives for those with dietary restrictions as well as those who miss mealsMaintain all kitchen equipment in sanitary and working orderManage inventory of food and kitchen equipment within budgetMonitor and document temperature of refrigerator and freezer(s)Work with members around their goals of menu and food preparation, to include menu planning, shopping, preparing meals and cleaningFacilitate weekly group on meal planning and preparationPrepare a Community Meal, with community support, at least weekly, to include member of SIL program.For all Full-Time Employees our benefit package includes:Paid Time OffHealth Insurance available within 60 days of hire Company Paid Life InsuranceSTD/LTDDental InsuranceVision InsuranceHealth Spending AccountsAble to participate in company 401K after 6 months of hireCompany 401K match up to 3%Qualifications High school diploma/GED required2+ years’ experience as a Cook in the restaurant industryAble to read and follow standardized recipesStrong knowledge of proper food handling proceduresAble to work as part of a team in a busy kitchen atmosphereServeSafe Certification preferredAbility to remain calm and focused during crisis situationsExcellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and time management skills High energy individual with strong work ethic and ability to multi-task Must be a self-motivator Ability and willingness to have fun at workAbility to maintain confidentiality Ability to self-manage Position expectations Staff member will participate in a multidisciplinary treatment team and will support and implement interventions as directed by Program Director.Staff member will demonstrate in their work with Members at ALL times, compassion, and concern when supporting a Member through embracing our organization's Mission and Core Values.Staff will approach Member engagement from a non-judgmental stance understanding that a Member's behavior is driven by past experience, which may include trauma.Staff will treat and speak to Members with supportive kindness even when a Member demonstrates intense behavioral or emotional actions. Staff will show Members dignity and respect for their values and lifestyle. Staff will seek out appropriate support, consultation with the Leadership Team and seek supervision, when they are uncertain about how to respond or support a Member effectively.Staff will report back to the treatment Team, any observations of Member behavior that suggests Member may need additional treatment interventions and/or support.Staff will engage with all external parties/individuals with appropriate professionalism and with a positive customer service approach, understanding that they are representing the organization at all times.We’re an equal opportunity employer.
