Job DescriptionJob DescriptionCook/TeacherPosition SummaryWe are seeking a reliable, organized, and child-centered Cook/Teacher to join our team. This unique hybrid role supports both the nutritional needs of the children and the instructional goals of the classroom. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys preparing healthy meals and engaging with young learners in a nurturing, structured, and developmentally appropriate environment. This role plays a key part in maintaining a safe, positive, and growth-focused school experience for every child.Key ResponsibilitiesFood Preparation & Kitchen ManagementPlan and prepare daily meals and snacks in alignment with USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) guidelines (if applicable).Support children with allergies, dietary restrictions, or cultural food preferences.Maintain food inventory; order, rotate, and stock supplies within established budget guidelines.Follow proper food handling, storage, and sanitation standards at all times.Keep kitchen, equipment, and prep areas clean, organized, and compliant with local/state health regulations.Record menus, meal counts, food temperatures, and logs required by licensing or program standards.Coordinate meal and snack schedules with teachers and campus leadership.Classroom Support & TeachingAssist in creating a nurturing, welcoming, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment.Support learning activities, hands-on experiences, and child-led exploration under teacher guidance.Encourage positive social interactions, emotional regulation, and conflict-resolution skills.Help supervise children during classroom time, transitions, outdoor play, and meal/snack periods.Maintain a safe and clean learning environment that meets all health and safety requirements.Support the preparation of classroom materials and basic documentation as needed.Build warm, professional relationships with children, families, and colleagues.Team CollaborationAttend staff meetings, trainings, and professional development sessions.Communicate effectively with directors, teachers, and staff to support daily operations.Uphold organizational values, professionalism, and confidentiality.QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent required; additional culinary or early childhood training is a strong plus.Prior experience as a cook in a childcare, school, or institutional setting preferred.Experience working with young children in a classroom or childcare setting preferred.Knowledge of nutrition, child dietary needs, and safe food handling practices.Ability to meet local/state health department requirements (e.g., food handler’s permit).Understanding of early childhood development and age-appropriate practices.Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills.Pediatric First Aid/CPR certification preferred.Core CompetenciesCommitment to child health, safety, and well-beingAttention to detail and strong follow-throughTeamwork and collaborationPatience, flexibility, and adaptabilityCreativity and enthusiasm for supporting children’s learningReliability and punctualityEventus Education is an equal opportunity employer.
