In this role, you will have the opportunity to showcase your culinary skills and creativity while making a difference in the lives of our community members. As an onsite Cook at our historical building known as Cogswell Hall, located at 7200 Franklin Blvd, Cleveland, OH 44102, you will be a key player in providing nutritious and delicious meals for the 43 independent residents who call Cogswell Hall home, and you will assist in preparing and delivering meals for the 250+ guests of the Norma Herr Women's Shelter Monday - Friday. This opportunity pays $17 / hour along with great benefits such as Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), Life Insurance, Paid Time Off after 90 days and more. WHAT IT'S LIKE TO BE A COOK AT YWCAAs a full time Cook at the YWCA, you will uphold the highest standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and operational organization set forth by the Cuyahoga County Department of Public Health. Your culinary expertise will shine as you create and serve meals that meet the “My Plate Nutrition” criteria, ensuring all participants receive balanced and wholesome dishes. Additionally, your attention to detail will be crucial as you conduct monthly surveys to assess food service quality, quantity, temperature, and appearance. By exemplifying excellence in all aspects of food preparation and service, you will contribute to enhancing the dining experience for our community members.WHAT CATCHES OUR ATTENTION To excel in this role, candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED and be at least 18 years old. A culinary degree is preferred, along with a minimum of one year of experience in restaurant, senior living, or equivalent cooking settings. Proficiency in quality and quantity food preparation is essential for this position. Additionally, candidates should hold a valid driver's license (or obtain license within first 90 days of employment) and preferably have Servsafe Certification.
