Job Title:Coordinator of Adult Education (part-time, grant-funded)Department:Adult Basic EducationWork Location:ALL SITESDuties:Under the direction of the Dean/Assistant Dean, the part-time, grant-funded Coordinator of Adult Education is responsible for coordinating the Adult Ed/Illinois High School Diploma (IHSD) program, classes, and curriculum. In collaboration with the Manager of Outreach and ESL and Specialists, the Coordinator of Adult Education ensures Adult Ed/IHSD curricula complies with ICCB and content standards and oversees the modification and approval of courses through the college and ICCB curriculum committees. The Coordinator of Adult Education oversees the Adult Ed/IHSD orientation content and delivery.The Coordinator of Adult Education assists with recruitment, retention, registration, and assessment of Adult Ed/IHSD students. In coordination with the Dean/Assistant Dean, the Coordinator of Adult Education is responsible for supervising teachers and support staff and developing faculty improvement of instruction plans that comply with ICCB guidelines for Adult Ed/IHSD teachers. The Coordinator of Adult Education is dedicated to the learning college concepts by developing programs and facilitating activities that promote student success and lifelong learning.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.1. Coordinate the development and implementation of innovative curriculum for Adult Ed/IHSD classes in compliance with ICCB and content standards2. Approves modifications and innovations on new curriculum, course outlines, and lesson plans through the department, college, and ICCB.3. Collaborates with Specialists and Manager of Outreach and ESL on curriculum and teaching needs of the Adult Ed/IHSD teachers.4. Works with Coordinators, Specialists, and support staff, to organize and facilitate Adult Ed/IHSD student assessment, orientation, registration, class schedules, and student recognition and graduation ceremonies. Is responsible for organizing and executing the IHSD graduation.5. Collaborates with Specialists and Coordinators on the development of detailed lesson plans aligned with curriculum scope and sequence for use by other Adult Ed/IHSD instructors.6. Collaborates with Manager of Outreach and ESL to identify and cultivate non-credit transition and contextualized learning classes.7. Facilitates the recruitment and placement of students for transition and contextualized learning opportunities—including bridge and accelerated learning opportunities.8. Coordinates the teaching of pilot Adult Ed/IHSD classes according to program innovation and curriculum development needs.9. Assists Coordinators and Specialists with the collection and interpretation of data for reporting and program needs.10. In collaboration with Specialists, reviews textbook, software, and technology tools to determine most appropriate materials for curriculum and classes.11. Provides coordination and leadership in the development and implementation of learning activities for instructors to improve program instruction and fully communicate curriculum development. Ensures program and instructor compliance with ICCB improvement of instruction guidelines, planning, and participation.12. Makes recommendations on staff, equipment, and material needs for the program.13. In coordination with the Dean/Assistant Dean, hires, trains, assigns classes, supervises, observes, and evaluates Adult Ed/IHSD teachers.14. Assigns substitute teachers as needed.15. Coordinates internal and external relationships to advertise, promote, and expand the Adult Ed/IHSD program—including scholarship offerings, high school connections, education fairs/conferences, and other community stakeholders.16. In coordination with Dean/Assistant Dean, monitors, reviews, validates, and evaluates progress and quality of work by staff performing assigned tasks.17. Other duties as assigned.Education/Experience:Bachelor’s degree in education or related field requiredMaster’s degree preferred.Minimum of four (4) years teaching/and or administrative experience involving adult learners is required.Qualifications:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.In addition to the above education/experience requirement, ideal candidate possesses effective organizational skills, ability to supervise different levels of staff; demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills (group presentation skills), the ability to work well with adult learners; demonstrates respect and maintains confidentiality, effective instructional/administrative skills, ability to coordinate curriculum development/implementation, possess acceptable computer/technology skills; possess valid driver’s license.Position Status:Part TimeHours:General Hours:Monday/Wednesday 9:00am-3:00pmThursday 8:00am-4:00pmHours may be adjustedSalary/Wage:$29.31-$31.00/hourHourly/Salary:HourlyBenefits:This is a non-benefit eligible part-time position; pro-rated paid leave hours may be available based on hours worked after a waiting period.Review of Applications Begins:01/05/2026Posting Number:AP00547POpen Date:12/12/2025Open Until Filled:YesSpecial Instructions to Applicants:Please apply online with required materials.
