Its fun to work in a company where people truly BELIEVE in what theyre doing!Were committed to bringing passion and customer focus to the business.SUMMARY: The Safety Coordinator is responsible for establishing and maintaining a variety of health safety and environmental programs to ensure compliance with safety standards. The position will develop and lead safety training for team members.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:Responsible for planning establishing implementing a variety of health safety and environmental programs to ensure the highest possible degree of safety for team members.Provide safety expertise and support as a resource to plant staff live haul operations traffic division and garages.Support the development execution facilitation and participation in Safety auditing hazard and safety assessment programs. Develop facility Safety communications.Lead safety training with supervisors.Lead the Safety Committee on designated shift.Initiate and lead accident/incident investigations.Coordinate safety training for new and existing team members.Support individual facility development and deployment of appropriate Performance / Program Standards outlining Safety expectations.Take a lead role in the development and improvement of Job Safety/Hazard Analyses.Perform industrial hygiene monitoring as required.Take a leadership role in the HazMat program.Lead change in the safety culture of the plant to drive the Journey to Safety Excellence.Take a lead role in the implementation of behavior based safety.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESThis position will not have supervisory responsibility.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE RequiredHigh school diploma or equivalent2 years of progressive experience with facility level safety practicesEffective communication and interpersonal skillsIntermediate computer skills familiarity with Microsoft Windows and MS-Office products (Excel Word and Power Point) as well as other common computer applicationsKnowledge and practical experience in the implementation of facility level industrial safety programs including but not limited to lock out tag out confined space entry fall protection machine guarding mobile equipment hot work contractor control process safety management and electrical safetyPractical experience and understanding of Safety regulations (federal and state) and applicable consensus standards (e.g. ANSI; NFPA; NEC)PreferredPractical experience in Safety management systems risk management and root cause incident investigation techniquesStrong problem solving and decision making skillsForeign language skills particularly SpanishGeorges is committed to providing reasonable accommodation to among others individuals with disabilities and disabled veterans.
