Job Title: Archives Centennial Summer 2026 Intern (OPS) Location: Sarasota, FL Regular/Temporary: Temporary Full/Part Time: Job ID: 61642 Department The John & Mable Ringling Museum of Art is located in Sarasota, Florida, and is a department of Florida State University. Learn more about The Ringling at https://www.ringling.org/careers.Responsibilities This internship is focused on compiling a variety of resources about John Ringling moving The Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus Winter Quarters to Sarasota. These resources will be used to support the centennial programming to be developed by The Ringling’s Circus Department.Qualifications Ability to start internship promptly on June 5, 2026, and stay through July 31, 2026.Completed Bachelor's degree and currently enrolled or seeking enrollment in a graduate degree program.Ability to use Adobe Suite products.Valid Driver's License or ability to obtain prior to hire. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of cataloging and metadata.Other Information The Ringling Archives Centennial Intern can expect the following learning outcomes from their experience:Learn to identify evidence and the authenticity approach to information.Learn the distinction between primary source and secondary source information.Gain an understanding of archival collections and their hierarchy and description using archival standards.Enhance research skills using finding aids and online databases.Expand the knowledge and understanding of the operations of a circus, i.e. Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus.Expand knowledge of Sarasota County history.Learn to use Capture One software and FilemakerPro software solutions.Become abreast of techniques and issues in the digital environment.Obtain a working knowledge on the conservation of archival records.Gain insight into the operations of a museum and the workflows of an archives department.Support public appreciation for the work of the archives and museum and the perpetuity of the collections held in their custody.Helpful Anticipated Timeline for Applicant NotificationsBetween mid-February and early March 2026 candidates will be notified if selected or not for an interview. Offers will be made to the top candidate by end of March 2026. Employment paperwork must be completed no later than May 15, 2026, and includes:Completing a level 2 background check (must be completed within the United States)Uploading images of your signed social security card, driver's license, and DMV verification of valid driver's license into the employee onboarding portal.Interns will begin on June 5th with New Hire Orientation at 9:00 AM.Internships will end on July 31, 2026.
