The Opportunity We partner with manufacturers across Lansing seeking Cost Accountants who want more than a lateral move. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain standard costs for raw materials labor and manufacturing overhead. Analyze production costs variances and profitability reports. Perform inventory valuation reconciliation and obsolescence analysis. Prepare cost of goods sold (COGS) calculations and margin analysis. Assist in the preparation of manufacturing budgets and cost forecasts. Investigate and explain cost variances identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions. Support month-end close activities related to inventory production and cost of sales. Recommended Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting Finance or a related field. 3-5 years of cost accounting experience preferably in a manufacturing environment. Strong understanding of GAAP and cost accounting principles (e.g. standard costing variance analysis). Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g. SAP Oracle) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Excellent analytical problem-solving and attention to detail skills. Bonus Qualifications Experience with specific ERP costing modules (e.g. SAP CO Oracle Cost Management). Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g. Power BI Tableau). Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma experience/certification. SQL proficiency for direct data extraction and analysis.
