Counseling Intern (Unpaid) at Texans Can! Academies

Primary Purpose:Counselinginterns complete their university learning contract and required on-site hours while at Texans Can Academies and will work closely with their assigned field placement supervisor. Interns will learn the role and function of Student Advocates and providecounseling supports for a mini-caseload. Weekly supervision will be provided by your assigned field placement supervisor. Activities include intake social services assessment supportive guidance student and family outreach field trips home visits and psycho-social referrals.Qualifications:Education/Certification:Enrolled in bachelors or masters program incounseling from a Texans Can Academies affiliatedcounseling programReferral by an affiliatedcounseling program for placement at Texans Can AcademiesWorking to complete a foundations field placementKnowledge/Skills:Basic coursework in scounseling practicesThe professional application ofcounselingvalues principles and techniquesHelping students and families obtain tangible servicesBasic knowledge of supportive guidanceBasic knowledge of human development and behaviorAbility to display empathy and concern for othersPossess a sense of urgency and apply to all assignments tasks and projectsHave a willingness to learn and be coachableBasic skills with verbal and written expressionExcellent interpersonal skillsExperience with high school age studentsWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office Gmail phone etiquette basic customer service work well in teams or independentlyMajor Responsibilities and Duties:Responsibilities include but are not limited to punctual attendance according to assigned scheduleScheduling and attending weekly face to face supervisionCompletion of assigned duties and responsibilitiesEngage assigned students and especially follow up on cases involving non-attendanceProvide supportive guidance for students exhibiting academic or behavioral issuesSeek consultation and assistance from assigned field supervisorOther duties as assignedEquipment Used:Personal computer typewriter printer copier fax machine and calculatorWorking Conditions:Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptionsRepetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computerTexans Can Academiesis anEqual Opportunity EmployerRequired Experience:Intern Key Skills Campaigns,Abinitio,AutoCAD 3D,Hardware & Networking,Customer Support,Arabic Employment Type : Full-Time Experience: years Vacancy: 1
