Job DescriptionJob DescriptionThe Crisis Stabilization Counselor provides immediate support, intervention, and stabilization services to individuals experiencing a mental health or behavioral crisis in the community. This role involves direct engagement with clients, de-escalation, safety planning, and connection to ongoing resources. The ideal candidate will have strong crisis intervention skills and a passion for supporting individuals in need.Key Responsibilities:Respond to crisis situations in the community, providing immediate assessment and intervention.Develop and implement short-term crisis stabilization plans to ensure safety and well-being.Provide de-escalation support, emotional support, and coping strategies to individuals in distress.Collaborate with emergency responders, mental health professionals, and social services to ensure appropriate care.Assist individuals in accessing community resources, including housing, healthcare, and social support services.Conduct follow-ups with clients to ensure continued stabilization and linkage to ongoing support.Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all interactions, interventions, and referrals.Educate individuals and families on mental health, crisis management, and available resources.Advocate for clients' needs and rights within the healthcare and social service systems.Participate in training and professional development to stay updated on best practices in crisis intervention.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field (preferred).Experience in crisis intervention, mental health, or social services.Strong understanding of trauma-informed care and crisis de-escalation techniques.Ability to work independently in the field and respond to crisis situations effectively.Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.Knowledge of community resources and social service systems.Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (if required for the role).Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
