MedStar Health is seeking an experienced full-time Critical Care Physician Assistant at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. $20,000 Sign-On Bonus Available!MedStar Washington Hospital Center, located in the heart of our nation’s capital, is seeking an experienced PA to work in one of our six ICU's. We are a teaching hospital with over 900 beds that is a major referral center in the area for medically complex cases. We are a Level I trauma center, a Comprehensive Stroke Center, in the top 5% of cardiac surgery programs in the country as well an ECMO referral center. In this role, critical care PA's work autonomously but collaboratively with intensive care physicians and a large multidisciplinary care team to provide high quality and cost-effective care to patients in critical condition. We have positions available in both the heart and vascular units as well as general SICU/MICU units. The heart and vascular units include, but are not limited to, patients in cardiac surgery, advanced heart failure including mechanical circulatory devices, vascular surgery and medical cardiac patients. The SICU/MICU patients include, but are not limited to, patients in general surgery, and surgical subspecialties such as neurosurgery, trauma, thoracic, plastics, and orthopedics, as well as medical patients.Essential Job Duties include:Perform history and physical examination of patients.Establish appropriate medical diagnoses based on patient history, chart review, physical exam, lab testing, and radiographic imagingInitiate and manage appropriate therapeutic interventions for various pathologies including respiratory failure, heart failure, shock, and acid-base disturbances and renal failurePresent patients on daily rounds with the ICU attending and multidisciplinary teamCollaborate with all involved care teams including other consultantsPerform bedside procedures including insertion of central venous, non-tunneled dialysis, and arterial catheters, chest tubes, and thoracentesis.Communicate between healthcare professionals to promote safe patient transition between shifts, services, and/or levels of care.Educate and supervise new graduate APPs and students where appropriateDepartmental opportunities include participation in the following:Weekly didacticsMonthly journal clubAPP practice committeeCritical care morbidity & mortalityVarious process improvement projectsProtocol writing and revisionsRequirements:Graduation from an accredited physician assistant programNCCPA (physician assistant) certifiedBLS and ACLS certificationsRequired: 1 or more years as an advanced practice provider in intensive care, cardiac surgery, or cardiology.Benefits:Competitive salary, retirement contribution matching, generous paid time off allotment, CME/licensing/credentialing reimbursementFor immediate consideration, please send CV to [email protected]#LI-DS1**$20,000 Sin-On Bonus Available!This position has a hiring range of $117,000 - $180,000.Compensation Information:$117000.00 / Annually - $180000.00 / Annually
