DescriptionJob Title: CURI Academic Year ResearcherClassification:Student Employee (non-exempt)Name and Address of Employer:St. Olaf College 1520 St. Olaf Ave Northfield MN 55057If the position requires the student to work off campus provide the name and address here:Department Name: CURIUnit Number (5 digits): 16118Length of Position:See Employment AuthorizationContact Person/Supervisor:Faculty advisorPay Rate (Check One) Standard Hourly Rate x Supervisory/Special Skills Hourly RateDescription of the Position: (Purpose of the Position): Students work together with a faculty member on scholarly or artistic projects.Project Title: Busking for ReparationsFaculty Mentor:Brian EvansProject Description: How can repair be embodied in original performance and how does presenting that work in open busking-style settings shape artists and audiences understandings of social justice Student artists will serve as researcher-performersdevising movement spoken word and music; performing on campus and in Northfield public spaces. The process is iterative: make share reflect revise with weekly check-ins and short debriefs after each pop-up set.Timeline & fit:Weeks 13: shared readings on reparations/repair community-engaged methods safety/access protocols.Weeks 47: devising and micro-showings; finalize 23 busking mini-sets per student.Weeks 814: weekly busking sessions rapid reflection and basic qualitative coding.Weeks 15-16: Final Harvesting and co-created public sharing of findingsStudents receive hands-on experience in devising public presentation accessibility practice and qualitative methods.Transferable Skills: Research and presentations.Duties and Responsibilities:Each project has its own timing (number of hours per week and number of weeks) as determined by the individual faculty mentor. See theCURI Digital Olaf database for individual project descriptions and details.Qualifications: (Education/Experience/Skills) A student interested in applying for the CURI academic year program must be enrolled as an on-campus St. Olaf student. There is no GPA requirement that must be met in order to apply for the program but a students academic record will be considered during the selection process.
