Not only do the main figures physically transgress imperial colonial or other institutional farmsteads but also do the literary and artistic expressions about them tend to adopt an alternative platform a subcultural genre and a translanguaging practice. How to read and translate them while weathering the storm of AI This project will be carried out by a team of one faculty supervisor and three student researcher-translators each with an unique expertise background and personality. As a team of four interesting human beings we will read and translate the first six chapters of a manga Mararum山間料理人 in a way that embodies the creativity adaptivity and sustainability of a foraging community in Japanese colonial Taiwan. The first few weeks will be exploratory and team-building the middle weeks on the main task of translation and the final weeks an opportunity to reflect on the process.
