DescriptionThe Custodial Tech Lead serves as a working lead custodial staff member by providing professional custodial duties in a fast-paced housing program designed to accommodate approximately 3700 resident-students. Housing and Residence Lifes mission and goal is to assure healthy safe clean and comfortable environments in the university residence halls.The Custodial Tech Lead position reports to the Housing Facilities General Custodial Tech Supervisor and assists with the on-boarding detailed training reviews the work of custodial staff and provides corrective actions. Keeps supervisor abreast on an on-going basis by providing frequent updates and making recommendations for improvement. Reports problems incidents damages and building repair needs.ResponsibilitiesPerforms routine custodial tasks such as sweeping dusting mopping vacuuming extracting blowing removing trash cleaning stairs washing walls and baseboards cleaning windows and window coverings cleaning and polishing mirrors removing spiderwebs cleaning up spills appliances and furnitureMoves sofas chairs tables desks mattresses appliances and beds to accomplish cleaning tasksSafely operates all vehicles and other job-related equipment. Shampoos carpets and upholstery in suites apartments hallways lobbies community spaces study rooms kitchenettes/kitchens and offices within residential hallsCleans bathroom showers tubs stalls toilets glass mirrors sinks vent covers and walls using provided chemicals materials and equipment; restocks restrooms with all necessary materials and productsReports problems incidents damages or building repairs needed and as directed by supervisorsProperly handles and disposes of recycling materials and follows instructions regarding the use of chemicals and suppliesProvides quality customer service to residents and staffEnsures rooms are set up for special events and restore rooms to prior conditions afterwardsAssists the General Custodial Supervisor in monitoring supply inventory levelsAssess supply needs and ensure timely distribution of cleaning materials and equipment to custodial staffSupports staff training by helping onboard new custodians demonstrating proper cleaning techniques and reinforcing safety protocolsReports facility maintenance needs or safety concerns to the General Custodial Supervisor and help coordinate appropriate responseAids in the coordination scheduling and leadership of summer custodial projects and staffing plansServes as a point of contact for custodial staff in the supervisors absence helping to resolve minor issues and ensure workflow continuityActs as a role model for the custodial team by demonstrating professionalism and adhering to University of Tennessee policies departmental procedures and expectationsMay be called upon to respond to emergencies during weekends holidays or outside of regular working hoursPerforms additional duties as assigned to support the goals and objectives of Housing & Residential Life and the UniversityMay be called upon to respond to emergencies during weekends holidays or outside of regular working hoursThe ideal candidate will possess the following:Communicates effectively and professionally in the workplaceCustomer service orientation with the ability to interact professionally with building occupants vendors and managementAbility to work in a detailed-oriented team environmentAdaptable and flexible ability to work under tight schedules and adjust to changing priorities and team deployment needsDemonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving abilitiesDemonstrated skills in the operation of carpet cleaning and floor cleaning equipment such as buffers extractors scrubbers and power washersDemonstrated knowledge and use of housekeeping chemicals and equipmentWillingness to learn and grow with the ability to receive and apply constructive feedbackReview of applications will beginDecember 1 2025 from postingand will continue until the position is received bythis datewill receive priority consideration.QualificationsMinimum: Requires a high school diploma or GED 6 months of custodial experience in a commercial or institutional setting or an equivalent combination of education training and experiencePreferred: 2 years of custodial experience in a commercial or institutional setting is preferred.Required Experience:Staff IC Key Skills Arabic Speaking,Marketing & Promotions,Access Control System,Apache Tomcat,BI,Back Office Employment Type : Full-Time Experience: years Vacancy: 1
