The Custodian assists the staff by ensuring that organization is well maintained for its purpose. The Custodian has decision making responsibilities within essential job functions in keeping with organizational policies.Essential Job FunctionsSupports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic organizationActs as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic ChurchSupports and adheres to the Religious Standards policies and procedures of the ArchdioceseMaintains confidentiality regarding sensitive mattersCleans rooms kitchens hallways and carpeted areas dailyCleans and disinfects bathrooms daily and replenishes suppliesRemoves trash from offices and eating areas on a daily basisConducts weekly monthly and seasonal cleaning as requiredAssists with the set up and clean-up for meetings and special eventsPeriodically disinfects door handles telephones switch plates and trash receptaclesMaintains exterior entrances and walkwaysApplies universal precautions in cleaning practicesMaintains the security of issued keys secures buildings turns off lights sets thermostatsDemonstrates professionalism in conduct demeanor and work habitsMaintains a work schedule that maximizes availability to the staffOther Job FunctionsCollaborates with others to enhance the work environmentConducts emergency clean ups and repairs as neededConducts periodic maintenance activities and minor repairsMeets with and monitors work of outside contractorsCommunicates maintenance and repair issues to the principalRequirementsKnowledge Skills & AbilitiesKnowledge of the basic teachings of the Catholic ChurchAbility to work independentlyAbility to work well with othersAbility to work in a fast paced environmentSkill in critical thinking and planningWorking ConditionsRequired to work some nights and weekendsRequired to manage high to moderate levels of stressRequired to work a minimum of a full school dayRequired to work in standard work conditionsMental/Physical DemandsRequired to lift or carry furniture equipment and suppliesRequired to maintain composure and avoid inappropriate displays of angerRequired to perform strenuous walking stooping bending pulling and pushing climbing twisting grasping and reaching overheadRequired to hear see and speak on a daily basisRequired to work with chemicals exposure to dust and slippery and uneven walking surfacesRequired to work in various climate conditionsQualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent preferredExperience with past custodial work or building maintenance preferred but not requiredBilingual English and SpanishThis is not necessarily an exhaustive list of all responsibilities skills duties or working conditions associated with the job.
