MASSILLON CITY SCHOOLSEXTERNAL JOB POSTINGWe are an Equal Opportunity EmployerPosition: Substitute CustodianBuilding: VariesTime Schedule: VariesSalary Rate: $13.65/hr.Reports to: Building Principal/Buildings & Grounds SupervisorDeadline: Until filledJOB DESCRIPTIONResponsible for maintaining the building at a high level of cleanliness and willing to perform all tasks necessary to meet this responsibilityAREAS OF RESPONSIBILITYAll Areas of Buildings & GroundsESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSAbility to handle gasoline diesel fuel kerosene weed killers fertilizers cleaning materials and other chemical substances in a safe mannerRestrooms and Locker RoomsWet mop floors and disinfect with germicidal solution dailyScour and clean sinks dailyClean toilets and urinals daily with disinfectantClean mirrors dailyRemove trash dailyRemove graffiti from walls and fixturesWash trash containers monthly or more frequently if neededClean and wax floors at least once during the school yearClean shower areas daily if in use with germicidal solutionClean lockers as needed (inside lockers annually)Disinfect floors in locker room and walls in shower rooms as required; at least weeklyClassrooms Offices Multi-purpose RoomsDust mop or vacuum floors/carpet daily; use treated mopRemove trash dailyClean chalkboards and trays dailyClean sinks twice weekly (daily in clinic) and disinfectDust counters window ledges and other areas that collect dust as neededWet mop floors as needed wax floors at least once during the school yearPerform basic maintenance and repair tasks such as replacing pencil sharpeners oiling hinges covering broken windows adjusting and fixing classroom furniture etc.Does small jobs for teachers as requested time permittingAbility to handle various necessary chemical cleaning substances in a safe mannerGymnasiums and AuditoriumDust mop or vacuum floors daily and prior to and following after school useRemove all debris from floors bleachers seats and stageClean under bleachers as neededRemove dust wherever neededReplace basketball nets light bulbs and make other minor equipment repairsPrepare gymnasium/auditorium for assemblies meetings physical education and athletic activities as neededCafeteria and KitchenSet up tables and benches dailyDry mop and wet mop floors dailyRemove all trash dailyClean trash containers dailyKeep cafeteria area free of food debrisHalls Entrance Ways and StairwaysDust mop and wet mop or scrub all corridors and stairways daily more frequently during periods of inclement weatherWax corridors as neededClean interior door glass and entrance glass as neededKeep all areas free of debrisDust daily as neededRemove graffiti from walls doors lockers etc. dailyClean entrance mats as needed or determined by weatherDust tops of lockers as neededExterior MaintenanceMow and trim grass necessary for neat appearanceTrim shrubbery weed eat edge flower beds rake up leaves and tree trimming for neat appearanceKeep grounds free of all debris dailyRemove snow from walkways and steps leading to the building and treat for iceRemove graffiti as neededWash outside windows as neededPertaining to All AreasObserve safety practices by eliminating or reporting playground equipment or other hazardsIs responsible for ordering and maintaining supplies and tools required to perform the above dutiesResponsible for checking in packages and the delivery of such packages to the end userMaintain good housekeeping in custodial closetReplace burned out light bulbs and ballastsEmergency lighting repairsVisual plumbing and boiler checks etc.Report damage of school property to principal with names of responsible persons when possibleRemain on premises during school hours except for employees own lunch period.
