JOB DESCRIPTION

Cutter Rebuild Technician

Join our team in the Rebuild Department where you will weld and repair metal components for industrial shredders. This role involves hands-on work with grinders, welders, and various tools to ensure the quality and functionality of cutter components.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform grinding and weld preparation on cutters using a hand air grinder according to procedures.
  • Weld hard face on cutters and grind profiles using hand air grinders and profile grinders.
  • Operate air hoists, forklifts, cutting torches, and propane pre-heat equipment.
  • Check and verify the quality of all personal welds.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
  • Identify cutter sizes and sweep sizes accurately.
  • Maintain welding equipment including the welder, tips, guns, and hood.
  • Clean parts before fabrication and perform fabrication according to prints.
  • Verify the quality, size, and spacing of all final welds.

Essential Skills:

  • Experience with welding and metal grinding.
  • Ability to perform general labor tasks in an industrial shop environment.
  • Proficiency in using hand grinders, overhead cranes, and welding tools.
  • Capability to perform heavy lifting, consistently lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Interest in metalworking and fabrication.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience in construction or heavy labor is beneficial.
  • Experience in welding school may be advantageous though the role is more labor-intensive.

Work Environment:

The work is performed in a fabrication shop with exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and occasionally moving mechanical parts. The noise level is typically moderate. The role is labor-intensive and requires comfort with using a hand grinder for most of the shift. The position operates on a day shift schedule of 4x10s from 5:00 am to 3:45 pm, Monday through Thursday, with potential overtime on Fridays.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wilsonville, OR.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
