We are seeking an experienced Cytotechnician for a 26-week contract assignment in New York. The ideal candidate will have laboratory experience in specimen processing, staining techniques, quality control, and cytology-related procedures while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and patient care.

Location: New York City, New York, 10032

Shift: Days

Schedule: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM | 5x8-Hour Shifts

Pay: $55-58/hr

Contract Duration: 26 Weeks

Start Date: 07/13/2026


Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Cytotechnician for a 26-week contract assignment in New York. The ideal candidate will have experience in cytology specimen preparation, staining procedures, quality assurance, and laboratory operations. This role supports pathologists and cytotechnologists by preparing high-quality cytology specimens for diagnostic evaluation while ensuring compliance with laboratory standards and regulatory requirements.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process cytology specimens for microscopic evaluation.
  • Perform specimen accessioning, labeling, identification, and documentation.
  • Process gynecologic and non-gynecologic cytology specimens.
  • Prepare and stain slides using PAP, ThinPrep, Cytolyt, Iron Stain, and other laboratory techniques.
  • Handle a variety of specimen types including urine, bronchial washings, gastric specimens, esophageal specimens, ascitic fluid, and spinal fluid.
  • Maintain quality control and quality assurance procedures within the laboratory.
  • Ensure accurate specimen tracking and compliance with laboratory regulations.
  • Assist in maintaining laboratory equipment and supplies.
  • Utilize Epic and laboratory information systems for documentation and workflow management.
  • Adhere to all infection control, safety, and regulatory guidelines.


Required Qualifications

  • Associate Degree as defined by New York State Clinical Laboratory Licensing requirements.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Active New York State Clinical Laboratory Technician License (required).
  • Minimum 1 year of laboratory or cytology experience.
  • Strong knowledge of specimen preparation, staining techniques, and laboratory quality standards.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
