Backend Engineer, Data Platform at Launchdarkly

About the Job:Software powers the world, and LaunchDarkly empowers all teams to deliver and control the best software. As a Backend Engineer, you will help us build features, design and implement API methods, and improve the performance and reliability of our systems.Our platform serves over twenty trillion feature flags daily. The core technologies we use daily include Golang, Redis, and NATS. As part of our you-build-it-you-run-it culture, all developers may be responsible supporting applications in production, including on-call.Responsibilities:Build and expand our data analysis products and APIs, written in Go, for our new Experimentation product line.Collaborate with frontend engineers to deliver user-facing featuresMonitor and improve server-side performanceWrite unit, integration, and load tests as necessaryActively participate in code reviewsWrite and review technical proposalsImprove engineering standards, tooling, and processesQualifications:5+ Years of backend software engineering experienceDemonstrable experience with server-side web development (e.g. in Java / Scala, Ruby, Python, Golang)Experience building RESTful APIsFamiliarity with computer science fundamentals such as data structures, distributed systems, concurrency, and threadingA commitment to working in a communicative and collaborative environmentYou write code that can be easily understood by others, with an eye towards maintainabilityYou hold yourself and others to a high bar when working with production systemsYou value high code quality, automated testing, and other engineering best practicesA familiarity with networking technologies (TCP, HTTP, web sockets, server-sent events, etc.)Pay:Target pay ranges based on Geographic Zones* for Level P3:Zone 1: San Francisco/Bay Area or New York City Metropolitan Area (if not Bay area specific role): $167,000 - $210,000**Zone 2: Boston, DC, Irvine, LA, Monterey, Santa Barbara, Santa Rosa, Seattle: $150,200 - $190,000**Zone 3: All other US locations: $141,900 - $180,000**LaunchDarkly operates from a place of high trust and transparency; we are happy to state the pay range for our open roles to best align with your needs.
