Bring yours to Block.The RoleThe Growth Product Data Science team sits at the heart of Squares seller growth strategy within Blocks broader AI and Data org. We partner deeply with product design and engineering to surface insights design experiments and influence product strategy and roadmap prioritization. We creatively use a diverse set of tactics across the full stack of data tools to foster data-driven decision making. Our work directly impacts seller outcomesfurthering Blocks purpose of economic empowermentwhile contributing to data science excellence and innovation across Block.Work from anywhere: This role can be performed from any location in the US with the flexibility to work from homeYou WillAnalyze large datasets using SQL & scripting languages to surface actionable insights & opportunities to the product team and other stakeholders driving strategy and facilitating decision-making for key business initiativesApproach problems from first principles using a variety of statistical modeling techniques to research and understand customer behavior and business performanceDesign & analyze A/B tests and apply pseudo-experimental methods such as DiD synthetic controls or related causal inference techniquesBuild forecast and report on metrics that inform strategy and facilitate decision-making for key business initiatives: visualizing data in self-serve dashboards for your partnersWork with engineers to log new useful data sources as we build new product featuresWrite code to effectively process cleanse and combine data sources in scaled & useful ways often resulting in curated ETL datasets that are easily used by the broader teamEffectively communicate your work with team leads and cross-functional stakeholders on a regular basisExpand your influence in the Block Data Science community by developing and evangelizing data solutions to improve analytics insightfulness and actionability.You Have8 years of related experienceFluency with SQL and PythonExperience using AI tools to automate mundane tasks accelerate development and enhance solutionsExperience with BI tools and data engineering fundamentalsFamiliarity with standard machine learning concepts and statistics concepts (including causal inference)Experience leading cross-functional projects; influencing without authorityExperience working with technical and non-technical partners including engineering product and business teams; particularly strong written communication skillsComfort with ambiguity and ability to define problems not just solve themTechnologies We Use and TeachSQL and ETL: Snowflake Airflow PrefectData Viz and BI: Looker Tableau Mode AmplitudeML / Stats: Python (Databricks)Hypothesis testing: Growthbook LaunchDarklyWere working to build a more inclusive economy where our customers have equal access to opportunity and we strive to live by these same values in building our workplace.
