POSITION SPECIFICSWe are seeking highly motivated Data Science/Machine Learning Research and Development Engineers to join our Computational Intelligence and Visualization Application Department of the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State. You will assist in providing customers with state-of-the-art visualization and decision support. The primary focus will be researching and developing feasible algorithmic solutions to our sponsors complex problems given large sets of multivariate data. Located in either State College PA or Reston VAARL is an authorized DoD SkillBridge partner and welcomes all transitioning military members to apply.You will:Design and implement machine learning systems models and schemesResearch and apply state-of-the-art machine learning prototypes to sponsor specific domainsSearch and select appropriate data sets before performing data collection and data modelingVisualize data for deeper insightsGenerate and present technical research reports and briefingsPerform statistical analysis in support of pattern of life and anomaly detectionPerform data fusion and correlationBuild high quality software prototypes integrated with our various research and pre-production software environmentsCollaborate with other ARL staff and sponsorsAdditional responsibilities of higher levels includes:Supervise the work of lower level staff and undergraduate studentPerform tasks of a larger scope and lead specific tasks within the project scopeRequired skills/knowledge includes:Data science/algorithm developmentData science / Machine Learning languages to include PythonResearch development and implementation of machine learning modelsPreferred skills/knowledge includes:Active TS/SCI Clearance strongly preferredA Masters degreeTraining and optimizing ML algorithms on GPU hardware architectures specifically NVIDIA basedWorking with geo-spatial dataStatistics multivariable calculus and linear algebraExploratory data analysis and visualizationData science / Machine Learning tools to include Pandas PyTorch/TensorFlow NumPy MatPlotLib PostGreSQL FastAPISoftware Development tools to include Git Docker Kubernetes SSHActive TS/SCI ClearanceYour work location will be on-site State College PA or Reston VA in a classified environmentMINIMUM EDUCATION WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONSIf filled as Research and Development Engineer - Intermediate Professional this position requires:
