Job Description
The Dean of Students for Community Standards leads critical aspects of the residential student experience. Supervises the Office of Residence Life and Campus Safety and directly supports campus standards as coordinator of student conduct, sexual assault awareness, and off-campus student support. Support students in crisis including housing and food insecurity and other emergencies; coordinate emergency on-call systems and serve as a member of the on-call team. This is a full-time, 12 month, on-campus position. Generous benefits include health, retirement, considerable time off, and access to multiple tuition programs for employees and dependents. Responsibilities: Student Conduct; review, develop, and publish policies in the Student Code of Conduct annually; investigate, adjudicate, and document student conduct code violations, including Title IX cases; train and monitor staff who are also adjudicating cases; train and support the All-University Judicial Committee; provide annual reporting that allow for data-driven decisions Leadership for the residential experience of students; recruit, hire, train, mentor supervise and evaluates the Director of Residence Life; ensures high quality operational effectiveness of the residential experience; provide outreach to students living off-campus with any support or challenges, this includes risk management, advocacy, and relationship building; direct initiatives related to student basic needs (emergency funds, food and housing insecurity) including the Titan Student Emergency Find, Swipe Out Hunger, break approvals Campus Safety, Crisis Response, and Prevention Education; recruit, hire, train, mentor supervise and evaluates the Director of Campus Safety; ensures high quality operational effectiveness of campus safety services; coordinate emergency on-call scheduling, training and develop on-call protocols; serve on the on-call rotation and official Emergency Response Team; lead sexual assault prevention education initiative, including Titan Consent, NCAA consent training, collaborative partnerships on and off-campus; maintain critical campus/community partnerships around safety Retention-centered student advocacy work; assist with student support and advocacy for students and parents in individual crisis; responds to elevated student complaints and residence life and campus safety; review meal plan exemption requests for religious purposes; represent Student Affairs and build community through active presence at campus events Requirements: Master’s degree required; Higher Education/Student Affairs or Counseling Minimum of eight years progressive higher education experience Knowledge of higher education/college student development and Title IX compliance Occasional evening/weekend work required Participates in on-call/Dean on Duty rotation Must live within 30 miles to Bloomington, IL for emergency response Application Information: Please submit a cover letter, resume and contact information for three professional references.
