Job Details

We are seeking a hands-on Product Debug Technician to support the troubleshooting and repair of highly technical electronic products in a Class 10,000 (ISO 7) cleanroom environment. This role is similar to an Inspection & Assembly Technician, but with a stronger focus on failure triage, root-cause isolation, and debug workflows. You will open units, assess issues, run diagnostics, perform rework/repair when appropriate, and document findings to drive fast problem resolution across Manufacturing and Engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform hardware troubleshooting and debug on complex electronic products and sub-assemblies (PCBA-level and system-level)
  • Disassemble and reassemble units to access components for inspection and debug while maintaining cleanroom/ESD compliance
  • Execute functional tests, diagnostics, and verification steps using standard lab equipment (e.g., multimeter, scope, power supply, etc.)
  • Identify failure modes, isolate root cause, and partner with Manufacturing/Quality/Engineering to determine disposition (repair, rework, scrap, return to vendor)
  • Perform rework and repair (as applicable), including connector/cable remediation and component-level handling consistent with IPC/ESD practices
  • Maintain clear documentation of debug steps, observations, and outcomes (failure notes, photos, defect logs, test results)
  • Support continuous improvement by flagging recurring issues, contributing to debug procedures, and helping refine test/triage flows
  • Follow strict cleanroom protocols (Class 10,000 / ISO 7) including full bunny suit and contamination control requirements

Requirements:

  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting/debugging electronic hardware (PCBs/PCBAs, chips, drives, or related high-tech assemblies)
  • Comfort working in a cleanroom environment (Class 10,000 or ISO 7) with full bunny suit requirements
  • Strong understanding of ESD-safe handling, precision work, and detailed documentation habits
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation such as work instructions, wiring diagrams, schematics, and assembly drawings (as provided)
  • Experience performing functional testing and failure triage in a fast-paced production or lab environment
  • Proficiency with MS Office and common collaboration tools (Slack/Teams)

Preferred / Nice to Have:

  • IPC-A-610 certification (or willingness to obtain); Lean/Six Sigma or SMT-related certifications a plus
  • Experience with PCBA bring-up, functional test execution, fault isolation, and rework workflows (solder/cable builds)
  • Background at Tier 1 CMs (Flex, Jabil, Celestica, Sanmina, Plexus, etc.) or major OEMs/semiconductor/hyperscale orgs (Apple, Google, Meta, Intel, AMD, NVIDIA, etc.)
  • Familiar with structured debug documentation (FRACAS-like notes, defect tracking systems, RMA/return workflows)
