We aim to nourish our community with high-quality goods and promote healthy lifestyles through responsible sourcing, excellent service, and environmental stewardship.Job SummaryThe Baker oversees daily operations of the bakery section within the deli department, ensuring consistent production of high-quality baked goods. This role requires hands-on baking, and recipe execution. The Baker is responsible for setting the tone in quality, presentation, efficiency, and sanitation, while upholding Good Foods Grocery’s standards of excellence and values.Key ResponsibilitiesBakery Production & Quality ControlPrepare and bake a variety of products including breads, muffins, cookies, pastries, and specialty items, with an emphasis on organic and natural ingredients.Produce gluten-free and vegan baked goods that meet dietary needs without compromising taste or quality.Maintain consistency in taste, texture, and appearance by following standardized recipes and processes.Innovate and improve recipes based on seasonality, customer preferences, and food trends in collaboration with the Deli Manager.Inventory & OrderingMonitor bakery inventory and track ingredient usage.Communicate ingredient and supply needs to the Deli Manager for ordering.Manage ingredient rotation, reduce waste, and ensure freshness and availability of key baking components.Food Safety & SanitationEnsure compliance with health codes, food safety standards, and sanitation regulations.Maintain a clean and organized bakery area, including ovens, mixers, tools, and prep surfaces.Customer ExperienceCollaborate with the deli and store team to ensure bakery displays are visually appealing and fully stocked.Engage with customers as needed to answer questions, take special orders, or receive feedback.Qualifications2+ years of professional baking experience (preferably in a lead or supervisory role).Strong knowledge of baking techniques, ingredient functionality, and food safety practices.Experience with or interest in baking gluten-free and vegan products.Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed.Excellent time management, attention to detail, and organizational skills.Passion for natural, organic, and wholesome food.Physical RequirementsAbility to stand for extended periods and work in a fast-paced environment.Lift and move up to 50 lbs.Manual dexterity and ability to use commercial kitchen equipment safely and effectively.
