Summary of DutiesThe Instructor has the responsibility for developing curricula and teaching Dental Hygiene Program courses, as well as completing course assessments and student evaluations.Duties & ResponsibilitiesThe Instructor has the responsibility for developing curricula and teaching Dental Hygiene Program courses, as well as completing course assessments and student evaluations. In addition, specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:Teach Dental Hygiene Program courses with a typical load of 20 contact hours per week, which may include day, evening, and/or weekend classes. Teaching assignments may include didactic, distance education, laboratory, and (pre)clinical instruction.Provide 10 office hours per week for student advising, curriculum development, course development/delivery, textbook review/selection, assessment activities, college/program meetings, etc.Provide 10 hours of College (professional and community) service per week. Includes attending college and program meetings, participation in professional development, mentoring adjunct instructors, serving on campus committees, and community activities.Be committed to implementation of the philosophy and conceptual framework of the Dental Hygiene Program and the mission of Rhodes State College.Maintain appropriate professional certifications, licenses, and memberships.Document proof of immunizations and screenings required by the Program and for licensure.Remain current in course content and assessment data for all Dental Hygiene courses taught within the curriculum.Actively engage in student success and completion initiatives within a comprehensive student support design.Foster a cohesive, team-oriented environment with all Dental Hygiene faculty and staff.Comply with all College/Program policies and procedures as well as laws and rules governing the Dental Hygiene profession.Perform other similar duties as required.Experience, Skills & AbilitiesRequired: Sound organization skills with the ability to manage people and resources. Competent in oral and written communication as well as in computer technology. Ability to interact positively with students and colleagues.Preferred:Committed to the two year college mission and quality instruction.Previous dental hygiene teaching experience at a two-year college level. Education & CertificationsRequired:Registered dental hygienist in the State of Ohio and graduate of a program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation.Baccalaureate degree. Preferred:Master's degree.
