JOB DESCRIPTION
Southeastern Technical College is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Dental Hygiene Instructor to join our program. This faculty member will lead, innovate, and inspire the next generation of registered dental hygienists through high-quality didactic, laboratory, and clinical instruction. The successful candidate will provide clinical supervision, evaluate student progress, and serve as a professional role model while fostering a culture of excellence and student success.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Instruction & Supervision:
Didactic & Clinical Instruction: Prepare and deliver course materials, manage classroom instruction, and provide hands-on clinical supervision as assigned.
Skill Evaluation: Provide real-time feedback and evaluation of dental hygiene skills, including radiographic technique and clinical performance.
Diverse Methodologies: Employ a variety of teaching techniques, including multi-media, computers, and simulation, to accommodate diverse learning styles.
Clinical Integrity: Remain present in the clinic for the duration of all sessions to ensure patient safety and maintain accurate legal documentation.
Student Mentorship:
Advisement: Provide student mentoring, counseling, and academic advisement to support retention and graduation.
Feedback: Monitor performance and provide constructive, timely feedback on clinical and academic progress.
Support: Assist students with orientations, program activities, and professional development opportunities.
Administrative & Professional Contribution:
Curriculum Development: Assist in course development and stay current with learning resources, textbooks, and dental hygiene technology.
Committee Participation: Attend faculty meetings and participate in campus-wide or departmental committee assignments, trainings, orientations, and college required activities
Community Advocacy: Act as an ambassador for the Dental Hygiene program within the college and the local community.
Compliance: Maintain updated student records and adhere to all program, school, and CODA accreditation policies.
Required Qualifications
Education: Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Dental Hygiene or a related field.
Graduate of a CODA accredited dental hygiene program.
Credentialing: Must be a Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) or a Dentist (DDS/DMD).
Licensure: Current Georgia Dental Hygiene or Dental license in good standing (or eligibility to obtain one prior to hire).
Experience: A minimum of 3 years of full-time clinical experience in dental hygiene or dentistry.
Certifications: Current Healthcare Provider BLS/CPR certification.
Technical Skills: Proficient in basic computer applications and dental software.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience in higher education or clinical instruction.
Documented background in educational methodology.
Certification to administer local anesthesia in the State of Georgia.
