About the Role:The Special Projects Group of KPFF is growing and looking for an ambitious and initiative-driven Design-Build Deputy Design Manager to strengthen our dynamic team in Seattle or Tacoma WA. You will be working on a diverse range of complex fish passage roadway and transportation improvements on design-build projects. As a key member of our team youll use your existing expertise in design build but also dive deep into the realms of project management and delivering unparalleled client service. Get ready to surround yourself with an unmatched support system amplify your capabilities and become a true consulting expert in the field!What Youll Be Doing:Design Build and Development:Support the Design Manager to coordinate with all complimentary disciplines (roadway drainage structural traffic public involvement and environmental) technical preparation and supervision of roadway and transit design tasks including quality reviews.Support the management of the project scope schedule design and quality.Review plans prepare or review technical specifications contract documents and estimates.Lead develop and review post design construction related tasks including; NDCs FDCs RFIs PCOs and manage design risk through construction.Assure the project team complies with the contract agreement as well as exercises rigid cost control to implement the approved design within established budget restraintsLearn to assess risks and develop mitigation strategies to contribute to project success.Enhance your skills in identifying and overcoming challenges through innovative problem-solving approaches utilizing both traditional and modern engineering techniques.Project Leadership:Managing design build project tasks ensuring efficient coordination of timelines budgets and resources to achieve successful project outcomes.Conduct site visits and inspections as necessary to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards.Mentor team members to support their professional growth and development.Client Engagement and Exceptional Service:Foster strong client relationships by actively listening to client needs providing clear communication and delivering customized solutions that align with their objectives.Serve as a trusted advisor to clients offering expert guidance and proactive support throughout all phases of the project lifecycle. Who Were Looking For:Minimum of 8 year of of civil design and management experience with a PE in the State of Washington or ability to get reciprocity5 Years of experience on large Department of Transportation (DOT) projectsBachelors degree in Civil EngineeringExcellent teamwork communication and interpersonal skills.Proven capability to work dynamically and effectively in a collaborative environment.Demonstrated enthusiasm for developing design and project management skills.Commitment to delivering exceptional client service and exceeding expectations.Preferred Qualifications:Strong knowledge of construction means methods and techniquesFamiliarity with WSDOT Standard Plans and Standard Specifications and Design ManualExperiencing delivering alternative project delivery procurements for WSDOT Sound Transit or other similar agencies.Experience working with contractors who are active in the Puget Sound Region.DBIA ProfessionalAdditional Information : Physical Demands and Work Environment:Duties are primarily conducted in a standard office setting requiring prolonged periods of sitting at a desk or computer table.Occasionally may be required to lift objects weighing up to 15 lbs.Occasionally visiting project locations and performing field inspections which may involve walking standing kneeling or navigating uneven terrain.Traveling to project sites or client meetings which may involve driving or flying.Culture and Benefits:Join KPFF for a career adventure that celebrates your expertise and fuels your development. The expected range for a qualified candidate with 8 years of experience is $135000-$175000. Additionally we offer performance-based bonuses to recognize and reward outstanding contributions in each Reporting Center.
