Full-timeDescriptionThe YWCA of the City of New York (YWCA NYC) is on a mission to eliminate racism empower women and promote peace justice freedom and dignity for all. We are a multiracial social justice organization dedicated to addressing issues that emerge at the intersection of race class and gender. Founded in 1858 the YWCA NYC is the first YW in the United States and part of an international movement of YWs worldwide.We reach more than 3000 New York City youth each year offering leadership and advocacy training for young women through our high school Girls Initiatives and providing after-school COMPASS and SONYC programs for elementary and middle school students in culturally diverse communities. Through culturally responsive programming we create pathways for the next generation of leaders to reach for their dreams and drive social change.The Development & Communications Associate is a key member of the External Affairs team responsible for executing fundraising and communications initiatives that advance the YWCA NYC mission. This role blends donor engagement digital communications event coordination content development and storytelling. The ideal candidate is a strong writer detail-oriented highly organized and excited to contribute to both strategy and day-to-day execution.Responsibilities:Fundraising and Donor EngagementPartner with the Sr. Director of Development and Communications in planning and executing the annual Salute fundraiser held each fall.Process checks and online donations; record and track donations in YWCA NYCs CRM (Bloomerang); prepare tax receipts and acknowledgment letters.Draft personalize and send donor communications including appeals acknowledgments invitations and stewardship updates.Generate monthly revenue reports and collaborate with the Sr. Director and Finance team to reconcile gift receipts.Support donor cultivation by preparing meeting materials tracking outreach and ensuring timely follow-up.Conduct prospect research on corporate partners individual donors and Board contacts; prepare summaries and briefings for meetings.Campaign and Event ExecutionCoordinate logistics outreach asset creation and timelines for fundraising campaigns including year-end giving Giving Tuesday and seasonal appeals.Support execution of the annual Girls Symposium and Young Professionals Leadership Council initiatives including outreach communications and event logistics.Occasional local travel to program sites within New York City and a few evening events.Communications and Digital ContentProduce schedule and analyze content for social media platforms (Facebook Instagram LinkedIn) to increase engagement and visibility.Design and distribute e-newsletters and email communications using Constant Contact (drafting formatting template design and performance tracking).Manage updates to the YWCA NYC website (WordPress) including posting news events and program information.Assist after-school and Girls Initiatives program teams in formatting newsletters flyers and other digital materials.Collaborate regularly with program teams to gather stories impact data photos and program updates to support donor communications social media and fundraising materials.Support the development and production of the annual report including content collection writing editing and design coordination.General External Affairs SupportServe as an organizational ambassador engaging with donors partners and stakeholders in a professional and welcoming manner.Help maintain YWCA NYCs brand voice and visual identity across all materials.Additional duties as assigned.RequirementsQualificationsBA degree in English Arts Communications or related field preferred.1-3 years experience executing fundraising or communications campaigns within a nonprofit setting.Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to craft compelling donor and digital communications.Experience producing content for email web and social platforms.Solid understanding of design concepts; experience with design tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite is helpful.Well-versed in Microsoft Office CRM databases and comfortable learning new software; experience with Bloomerang or similar CRM is a plus.Flexible organized and dependable and able to manage multiple priorities.Commitment to the YW-NYCs social justice mission.Rapid learner who thrives in a fast-paced environment with proven ability to meet deadlines.Friendly personable and able to engage with people of varied backgrounds.Comfortable working in a hybrid environment and able to collaborate well across teams.Work Schedule & Hybrid ExpectationsThis position follows a hybrid schedule requiring two in-office days per week.Note: Staff must report onsite on non-hybrid days when required for mandatory meetings events or other business needs as determined by the organization or supervisor.General office hours are 9:00am6:00pm with occasional evening events or travel across New York City based on organizational needs. This position is very active and requires standing walking bending kneeling and stooping all day. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move items under 20 pounds. During fire drills the employee unless physically unable will need to use the stairs to go to ground level from the fourth floor. Typing is required for composing emails and writing reports.
