Diesel Mechanic at Action Labor & Staffing Connection

Diesel Mechanic needed right away for a local asphalt company. Work requires repair, upkeep and preventative maintenance of equipment around the company location and jobsites throughout the Tallahassee/Quincy markets.

3-5 years experience minimum, inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing heavy-duty construction equipment (pavers, rollers, millers, loaders) and dump trucks to minimize downtime. Will be an expert performing field service repairs, routine maintenance, hydraulic/electrical system troubleshooting, and maintaining safety standards.

$30 per hour and up to start (based on experience) plus full-time benefits.

Key Responsibilities:

Preventive Maintenance & Repair: Perform oil changes, fluid checks, and major repairs on heavy machinery such as rollers, asphalt pavers, and milling machines.
Diagnostics: Utilize diagnostic tools to troubleshoot engine, hydraulic, and electrical issues.
Field Service: Perform urgent, on-site repairs on equipment in the field to keep paving crews operating.
Documentation: Maintain detailed records of repairs, maintenance, and parts inventory.
Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and ensure equipment is safe to operate.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Extensive experience with diesel engines and heavy equipment.
Proficiency in hydraulic and electrical systems.
Welding skills desirable.
Ability to lift 50-75 lbs and work in exterior, high-heat/dusty environments.
Valid driver's license (CDL preferred for moving equipment).

Work Environment:

Exposure to extreme cold and/or heat, noise, and moving mechanical parts.
Work involves lifting heavy machinery and working in varied positions (kneeling, bending).
