Description: Position SummaryThe Diesel Mechanic is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance, repair and documentation of branch location vehicles. Job duties include, but are not limited to, all of those listed below. The Diesel Mechanic may oversee and assist technicians of a lower classification. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Diagnose and Repair vehicle systems, including air brakes, electrical, hydraulic, engine and emission related equipment.Diagnose and repair specialty equipmentRespond to road calls or breakdowns when necessaryOrder Parts and Supplies as necessaryUtilize Dossier Fleet Management Software to record repairs and maintenanceAssist the regional fleet manager or supervisor to facilitate resolution of fleet related issues.Perform Preventive Maintenance on various types of vehicles and equipmentPerform inspections and document conditions on all equipmentAssist in coordinating repairs with outside vendorsEnsure that all Federal, State, and Local EPA, DOT, ANSI, OSHA and Safety laws and regulations concerning fleet operations are adhered to.Other duties as requiredMUST HAVE OWN TOOLS!Work EnvironmentYou are regularly exposed outside weather conditions, non-hazardous fumes and noiseMust be comfortable working independently Interaction with customers Requirements: Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesPrior experience working in a small fleet or transportation industry is required.Prior experience working with Earth moving equipment.Prior experience working with truck vacuum equipment.Proficiency in Microsoft Office -Excel, Outlook is preferred.Experience using fleet management software and pre/post trip repairs is preferred.Proficiency with software, databases, and web programs preferred.Strong time-management/organizational skills Strong attention to detailMaintain a high level of integrity and make ethical decisionsWelding experience is preferredHave a valid Driver's licenseHave valid Class A or B commercial Driver's License (or ability to obtain one)Welding experience is preferredBe drug-free (pre-employment drug screening and physical is required Minimum Education and ExperienceMust have High School Diploma or Equivalent, Trade School preferredMinimum 3 + Years' Experience in Automotive, Heavy Equipment and, Fleet Transportation IndustryWork EnvironmentYou are regularly exposed to outside weather conditions, non-hazardous fumes, noise and smellsMust be comfortable working independentlyInteraction with Vendors and other employees Company Offered BenefitsCompetitive starting hourly rates + opportunity to earn overtime Opportunity to earn a quarterly safety bonus!Company Paid Med-Card Renewals Room for Growth!Medical, dental and vision insuranceEmployer paid life insurance Employee discount for services offered in your area!Matching 401K 6 paid holidays, 2 paid floating holidays and generous paid time off plan Company Paid Uniforms The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $24.50- $32.00 hourly at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as work location, education, experience, knowledge, and skills.
