Their Columbia, SC Research & Development facility tackles complex thermal, mechanical, and hydraulic challenges—driven by robust experimental data and over 100 combined years of materials engineering experience.This is not an assembly-line job. This is hands-on testing, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and working directly with diesel engines, fuel injection equipment, and advanced mechanical systems.If you enjoy solving problems, working with engines and components, and being part of an R&D environment, this is an excellent long-term opportunity. Position SummaryThe Test Technician is responsible for testing and evaluating new and existing diesel-related products. This includes running mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical tests; troubleshooting equipment; documenting results; and supporting engineering teams.They are looking for someone with a strong mechanical background, a customer-focused mindset, and a commitment to continuous improvement. Day-to-Day ResponsibilitiesYou will work hands-on with mechanical, electrical, diesel, and hydraulic systems. Daily duties include:Perform hot gas testing (turbo, EGR, intake valve systems)Support durability testing on engines and componentsAssist with vehicle testingRun, maintain, and troubleshoot test equipment and instrumentationMechanical systemsHydraulic systemsElectrical systemsInstrument test parts and conduct instrumented testsMonitor and document long-duration durability testsEvaluate test results, ensure data quality, and communicate findingsMaintain a clean, organized, and safety-focused workspace Two Technician Tracks AvailableThere are two similar roles under the Test Technician title:1. Senior-Level Test TechnicianIdeal for candidates with:Diesel engine experience (vehicle or generator)Fuel injection system knowledgeAbility to troubleshoot, repair, test, and validate diesel componentsPerfect for:✔ Diesel mechanics✔ Generator technicians✔ Heavy equipment mechanics✔ Military 91B / 91 Bravo Wheeled Vehicle Mechanics 2.
