Job DescriptionJob DescriptionUnder the supervision of the mechanics division Operations Manager, this full-time position will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing heavy duty diesel vehicles or other equipment. This highly motivated, self-sufficient operator is expected to be a “walking example” of the organized professional operation that TEI strives to be. There are open diesel technician positions in both the Hampton, VA and Chesapeake, VA locations.Requirements:Must have at least 3 years’ experience as a medium/heavy duty truck or school bus mechanicMust demonstrate a thorough working knowledge of preventative maintenance programsMust have excellent customer etiquette and communication skillsHave the ability and desire to form a close working relationship with other team membersPossess and use own toolsBe fluent in the English languageMust have, and keep current, a USA issued driver's licensePass a DOT physical (if needed)Maintain and/or repair all mechanical, electrical, and electronic components on a wide variety of commercial vehicles and equipment within time limits as outlined in standard labor guidelinesClean, manage, and maintain tools and shop spaces assignedPerform duties during regular working hours and when circumstances arise, additional duty time required to complete tasks required by managerMust be willing to learn and perform a diverse array of other assigned dutiesMust be capable of frequent walking, standing, kneeling, stooping, heavy lifting, and carrying at least 50 poundsMust be willing and able to work outside and inside on slippery or uneven surfaces and laddersBe comfortable with exposure with exposure to hot and cold temperatures, dust, chemicals, materials, and welding sparksAssist service advisors and management by advising the most economical yet effective repair of customer or company equipmentResponsible for competent completion of daily maintenance and major repairs that are assignedSupport administrative policies and assigned dutiesMust pass a criminal history checkPass pre-employment and subsequent random drug/alcohol screeningsBenefits:Medical, Dental and Vision insurance coverageMedical insurance paid 100% by TEI at 5 year work anniversaryLife insurance policyLegal and other supplemental coverageSimple IRA with TEI matching contribution after 1 yearPTO, Holiday, and Bereavement pay ***SIGN-ON BONUS AVAILABLE WITH QUALIFIED EXPERIENCE***E04JI800i19n403d6he
