Portsmouth VA 23704 . 757-397-3411Dietary ManagerPosition Summary: Prepare meals for residents, family members, and guest, following designed menus, in a manner that optimizes nutrition and enhances the dining experience. Consistently uphold the facility’s principles, service standards, philosophy and mission.Position Responsibilities – ServiceSupervise cooks and dietary aides, Schedule dietary staff, work shifts when dietary staff unableRoutinely interact with resident to determine and enhance their satisfaction with the meal programEnsure an attractive presentation of food on the platePrepare meals according to the daily menu plan and/or as directly by supervisorPrepare meals accordance with sanitary regulations and policies and proceduresAdhere to all proper handling, labeling, and storage protocols for all foodsOrder and stock to meet menu requirementsProperly maintain documentation of all temperature charts and recordsProperly maintain meal consumption of resident and report accordantlyIdentify and communicate resident’s likes and dislikesAdjust or adapt recipes to accommodate specific dietary needs whenever possibleMonitor and adhere to portion control standardsCommunicate any identified resident concerns/issues to the appropriate managerMaintain confidentiality of all resident informationAssist in serving meals and bussing tablesParticipate in and attend all required in-services training sessionsAnswer business phones and Respond to alarmsTour inquiring individualsAll other duties assignedTeam Effort:Assist in ensuring compliance with State and Local RegulationsAssist dietician in developing new menu items and recipesAssist in optimizing individual and team performance through effective leadership, mentoring and directionAssisting Dietary Cooks/ Aides with taskAction:Identify resident issues and communicate them to the Administrator Keep the environment safe, clean and free of clutter Respond to resident emergenciesPractice safety in working around and with equipment, chemicals, tools, and utensils No horse playing or agitating resident Reputation:Maintain professional relationships with all employees - no arguingMaintain good hygiene and a professional appearanceSuccess:Contribute to resident satisfaction by ensuring that customer’s expectations are met or exceededMaintain efficient and appropriate communication with residents, family members and guestContribute to marketing efforts through appropriate interaction with prospective resident and guestEssential skills, experience and abilities:Ability to organize and manage multiple prioritiesStrong customer orientation to older adultsExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsPositive attitude, enthusiasm and energyComputer literacy Ability to read , write, and comprehendJob Title: Dietary Manager Nonessential skills and experience:High school diploma or equivalent certificatePrevious management experienceServe Safe training Reporting to the position: No direct reports Dress Code: Uniforms / Scrub type clothingTennis, Nursing, or Croc type shoes need to be slip resistance. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to stand, walk, sit, use fine and gross motor skills, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, and or smell. An individual must have the reading ability at the level to comprehend care notes. An individual in this position will be required to lift or carry weight in up to 75 pounds. Intermittent physical activity includes lifting and supporting residents. . The employee must be free of diseases that can be transmitted in the performance of job responsibilities during the stage of communicability. The employee must use proper body mechanics to assist resident in their daily living. Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to minimal to moderate noise. The employee will be exposed to blood and/or body fluids. The employee may encounter traumatic situations, such as having to care for mentally ill resident and contact the deceased residents. Employee will be scheduled based on operational needs (e.g., shift rotation, standby, on-call, etc.) SLEEPING IS NOT PERMITTED DURING WORKING HOURS.
